Missing thesis statement

You were asked to provide your thesis as the first thing on page 2.

Communication

This essay elaborates on issues which surround effective solving of a conflict which exist between individuals. The introduction isn’t written until week 4 when we have discussed introduction techniques.

I don’t see your thesis, so I can’t tell the order of your subtopics (body paragraph).

Topic sentence from Week 2. First, couples can resolve conflict by __________. Generally, effective communication in a relationship conflict requires a high degree of self-awareness and objective understanding of partners’ personality(citation?? Where did you read this?). [However,] not all communication styles (what styles are there?) work in all situations but if one is not getting through to the other using a particular communication style then it’s time to rethink their communication style (run-on, empty sentence) Communication can either be direct by explicitly stating the problem or indirect by alluding the problem through humor, sarcasm or teasing (citation?). It can also involve either cooperation by focusing on the problem or opposition by focusing on the partners’ behaviorperiod What is a real example you might include? Concluding sentence?

LeCedric,

1. First take time to organize your supporting points that should support “communication” as the subtopic. List them, then put them in order. Then, write about them in sentence form.

2. Use examples your reader can relate to. Say a woman thinks the man is hiding something, so she give him the silent treatment. Use good examples.

3. Use citations, or you will receive a zero for plagiarism. If you do not understand how to use in-text citations, call me. (706) 308-8077

Next, another way to resolve conflict is to _____. Where are your topic sentences from Week 2? The couple should generate Generation of a list of priorities before talking to the other person (citation? Where did you read this?) you are in conflict with. This mainly helps on noting on the important things to talk about like what? Example?. Good relationship should be a priority and can be achieved by treating This technique shows the other person respect how?. It involves one being at their best behavior and courteous in order to discuss matters constructively (Engleberg I. Wynn D. & Schulttler R, 2012). Listing out things to talk about also ensures that the important things and the causes of the conflict are talked out without leaving out unsolved issues (citation?). One should try to take personal history and personality out of the equations much as possible. The key thing should be thinking about the root of the problem and what specifically need to be changed. Concluding sentence? Comment by Cheryl Hancock: Take out first initials.

Make sure this is all your words and your writing. Where you use source information, you have to add citations. If the whole paragraph came from the source, then you need to start over and use your own words. Only use one or two quotes or paraphrases to back up or defend your ideas.

Finally, another way to resolve conflict is to __________. Remaining calm and avoiding revenge situation helps solve conflicts since tempers will always stand in the way of working through differences (citation?). The goal is making to make peace with each other and not revenge. Incase tempers take control then one should respectively communicate to the other through a mediator that they should both take some time to calm down (Peter T. Coleman, 2011). Then they should agree on a time and place to discuss and solve the conflict.to solve the conflict one should try to stay calm by remembering that settling the conflict is the goal and not proving a point. Asking the other party to help come up with ways to solve the problem also helps take off some pressure which helps one relax. Please conclude your paragraphs with concluding sentences, and proofread for sentence errors. Reading out loud will help, and WritePoint will help you as well. Comment by Cheryl Hancock: Remove first names and a initials. Review this again. Add the page number.

Good work, LeCedric. You have some good ideas in here, and they need to be developed more. I can see you worked hard on this assignment!

Please add in-text citations where you used source information, or you will receive a zero for plagiarism.

I see you did go back to last week’s assignment, and you used the topic and subtopics identified there. You did use the topic sentences you wrote from that assignment as well and the feedback I gave you to correct any errors.

Please review my feedback above, and let me know if you have questions.

Then, ask yourself the hard questions. Why does this matter? How do I know? So what? Why? Why should the reader care? This will help you get to the matter of your discussion.

Here is a checklist to help you:

1. Does each topic sentence identify ONE subtopic?

2. Does each paragraph contain supporting points for that one subtopic?

3. Do some supporting points come from research?

4. Did you use correct in-text citations?

5. Did you include concluding sentences?

6. Did you include transitional phrases and words?

7. Are you writing in third person point of view?

If you have any questions about my feedback or the list above, please let me know. I would like to see you include everything here.

Also, take another look at the Week 5 Expository Essay Assignment directions to ensure you understand the requirements for the essay.
