Instructions: Delete this section as well as my specific instructions and explanations below. Replace those instructions with your responses/criteria of the paper.

Introduction paragraph here:  For your introduction, you should write a full paragraph which clearly explains the topic, the importance of further research, ethical implications, and how the topic relates to one’s academic and professional pursuits. Make sure you effectively inform the reader of the rationale behind your topic. (your intro should be no longer than ¼ - ½ a page)

Thesis Statement: End your Introduction paragraph with your thesis statement. Remember that a thesis is ONE sentence that provides the main assertion your paper will be focused on explaining/supporting. You should NOT use first person in the thesis or any part of the paper. (so no I, me, we etc. in your writing). You should also avoid using an announcement style thesis such as “This paper will…” Your thesis will actually END your introduction paragraph for your final paper. You may choose to separate it out here or place it as the last sentence in the intro paragraph above. Please underline your thesis statement.

(for example – your thesis should never say something like “This paper will tell you the harmful effects of smoking. OR . . . I will explain why smoking is harmful to your health.” The thesis should make an assertion and give the main argument of the paper. So it would be something like “Smoking is harmful to a person’s health because” – and then the main reasons should be listed.)

Annotated Bibliography: (At least five scholarly sources must be included)

(An annotated bibliography provides your references in APA format, and a short summary paragraph (about 150 words) in your own words of what the source is about and how it will help you write your paper under each reference. Your summary should be a paragraph or two explaining what is in the source. You should NOT copy/paste the abstract, but should write the summary in your own words).
