Why you chose this article and/or how it relates to the clinical issue of interest (include a brief explanation of the ethics of research related to your clinical issue of interest) |
The paper emphasizes the effectiveness of mobile technology in enhancing treatment in depressive students. Therefore, this paper will provide information about how effective mobile technology is in enhancing mental health.
|
I chose this article because it will provide insight on how medical applications can provide benefits and access to mental health services for individuals. The use of mental health mobile applications keeps growing by the day; hence I found it necessary to look into this research and discover if they are effective. |
This article was effective for me because it seeks to address mental health disorders among the youth by comprehending the role of smartphone interventions in the issue. The youth are being affected by mental health disorders significantly, and at the same time, they are the highest users of smartphones. The article focuses on seeking an effective strategy for reducing the symptoms among the youth. |
I chose the article because it focuses on validating research concerning the effectiveness of mobile applications in treating common disorders such as anxiety and depression. The paper cites the limited use of mobile applications. It offers information from a patient perspective concerning the use of mobile applications in treating mental illnesses. It then suggests more interventions be adopted to cultivate the use of mobile applications at a higher rate. |
|
Brief description of the aims of the research of each peer-reviewed article |
The researchers aimed at acquiring information concerning the use of mobile applications for depression, downloading and using them, and their effectiveness in reducing or managing depression symptoms |
The research aimed to examine the efficacy of five applications, including Smiling mind, destressify, moodmission, super better, and Mindshift. |
The study's objective was synthesizing current research on smartphone-based interventions focusing on internalizing disorders among the youth. |
The study's objective was to explain the existing factors for the use and impacts of mobile applications of mental health from a patient perspective. |
|
Brief description of the research methodology used Be sure to identify if the methodology used was qualitative , quantitative , or a mixed-methods approach. Be specific. |
The research used a randomized clinical field trial to evaluate the effectiveness of mobile technology in treating depression. This is a quantitative method of research.
|
The research recruited fifty to participate in the study, ten individuals for each application to provide data over twenty days. The participants were required to provide subjective units of distress daily through text messages, finish other measures at five different points, and a six-month follow-up. The method was quantitative. |
The researchers searched through PUBMED and Scopus and found twelve studies they used in the final synthesis. The study used a mixture of meta-analysis and a random-effects model for its analysis. |
The research involves a cross-sectional study of veterans who had participated in a veteran health facility common for issues such as unipolar depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and anxiety disorder. The subsets received a paper survey addressing interests in using mobile health applications. This method is quantitative. |
|
A brief description of the strengths of each of the research methodologies used, including reliability and validity of how the methodology was applied in each of the peer-reviewed articles you selected. |
The strengths of randomized clinical field trials include minimized partiality, easy to recognize the effectiveness of one medical intervention to another, and the design results can be evaluated using statistical tools. However, this method is expensive and therefore cannot be widely used. It also necessitates various testing sites to improve its validity. |
The strengths of this method are that it is easy to conceptualize and is effective for irreversible interventions. However, it requires more time and resources to implement. |
The strengths of this approach are that it provides a more exact estimate of the effects and enhances the generalizability of individual studies’ results. It also can reduce the possibility of false-negative results and explains the heterogeneity between study results. |
The strengths of the cross-sectional study are that they are affordable and quick to conduct. The method effectively determines the prevalence of mobile health application use and studies associations of various outcomes. |
|
General Notes/Comments |
The study will be effective in focusing on the role mobile applications play in mental health treatment.
|
This research will provide insights into some of the existing mobile health applications essential in menta health, use, and effectiveness. |
I think this research is relevant to contemporary healthcare issues because the industry has experienced a rise in mental disorders among the youth. Therefore, the study will provide insight into the relationship between mobile health applications and managing disorders among the youth. |
This research is insightful because it provides information from patients' perspectives regarding the use of mobile applications for mental health disorders. |
