Action Research Case Study (City Center Hospital Case Study)
Introduction
The City Center Hospital is having a complex of issues that are ranging from all the
various departments which is not appropriate for any functional organization. It is important
to understand that there is need for the nurses, physicians, unit manager, doctors that is
shaping their interactions. The poor working relationships are a problem for the workplace
because it changes their work delivery that is poor for the workplace. There is poor leadership
skills in the work place as a result of the unit managers and it is influencing the dedication of
the physicians and they might leave the organization. The Unit managers are caught in the
middle of protecting the nurses that are experiencing stress levels and there is a believe of the
physicians being responsible. The utilization of the OD interventions especially the
behavioral techniques that comprises of strategies such as role playing, sensitivity training
and grid development.
The utilization of the OD interventions will help the leadership in the health
institution to realize their weaknesses and then work on the solution that will help uphold the
organizational goals and objectives. The leadership of the institution is facing numerous
challenges that include failing to create cohesion in the workplace and this is a problem thus
it is important to try and come up with the best principles that would see the organization
grow. It is important to try and utilize the various strategies understand the behavioral
techniques because they do focus on improving the people’s behaviors. The behavioral
technique will focus on trying to understand the challenges that the leaders are facing and
then devise new behavioral measures that will help establish a proper plan relevant to their
success.

The sensitivity training
The sensitivity training involves a minimum of ten members whereby they engage in
a free environment where they can easily engage in themselves without a proper strategy. It is
important to understand that there should be a facilitator that helps guide the conversations
but with no proper flow of agenda. The method will be practical because it allows the
participants to learn their independent behaviors before they do set up their interactions in a
setting such as the health institution. The strategy is also relevant because it helps make sure
that there is an easier understanding of how group interactions work which is vital for their
development especially in a workplace with variant responsibilities (White & Mitchell,
2019).
The hospital will find the best principle and measure that will help the nurses,
physicians to find the best functional behaviors in the workplace. The moral for the
workplace is important because it helps shape the functionalism that is vital for their
performance which is vital for the organization. The concept of morale in the work place will
be easy and thus it is vital to change such a position in the workplace which makes it
important to shape their interactions.
Role playing
Role playing is an important process that helps come up with the best outcomes
especially because there is an opportunity to create a life situation. It is important to
understand that there is need to present the individuals with a reallife situation that would
then make it easier for the leaders to corporate and understand a situation similar to their real
life situation (Bullock, 2016). The method helps in the adjustment of interpersonal skills and

attitudes of the involved parties and help make sure that they do achieve their interesting
goals and objectives. It is important to understand that the health institution can place its
leaders into the practical situations that would then help make sure that they understand all
the sides of a conversation. The method will be efficient in the formation of human relations
which is important for the way that they do interact and relegate their relations in the
workplace responsibilities which is a major change.
It is important to understand that the managers in the workplace will have immediate
change and reactions to the new goals whereby they will be heavily invested in the workplace
and make sure that they do achieve their goals and interactions. It is important to boost the
roleplaying techniques because they will make sure that as a team, there is achievement of
proper goals and strategies efficient for their business.
Grid developmental
The grid development technique focuses on trying to make sure that an organization is
successful in understanding people and also the productivity. It is important to understand
that organizations do vary in preferences especially in regards to people and productivity thus
it is important to make the best choice (Bruhn, Fernando, McDaniel & Troughton, 2017).
Productivity is essential to some managers while others would prefer to build a constructive
team and this is not the case at the City Center Hospital. The hospital is seeking for the best
outcomes for their employees that would then find the best measures of working in harmony
that would then make it easier to establish the right plan that would make sure that they do
achieve their goals. It is important to try and input the leaders with a collective practice that
would see them incorporate team management leadership skills that would make sure that
they stay ahead of the changes.

The method will mainly utilize a questionnaire that will make sure that the leaders do
determine the existing styles that the managers do exhaust and then use the information to try
and push them towards changing and adapting to the necessary efficiency (Connor, 2017).
The unity leaders can find alternative measures for making sure that they do achieve their
interactions which is vital to the way that they do succeed in the workplace. It is important
that they do come up with the best practice that includes interacting with other department
heads, identifying their problems and then finding an amicable solution that will help make
sure that they do come up with the best practice which is efficient towards their growth as
members of the society.
Conclusion
The utilization of behavioral techniques will help make sure that the organization does
fine tune their leadership to meet their workplace while making sure that they do achieve
their goals and interactions. The behavior of the workplace is important for boosting their
development because it will establish a proper plan that is vital for their business. It is
important to understand that the hospital utilization of the role playing, grid development and
sensitivity training will help make sure that they do adapt to the changing environment of the
workplace. It is important to understand that the workplace would be healthy with a
leadership that is involved and understands their employees making them practical for the
variations in leadership and productivity of the organization.
