Running Head: Immigration Issues in America 1

Immigration issues in America 6

Immigration issues in America

The United States of America has constantly complained of people who come from other countries into America. Under Trump’s administration, many complaints have been brought to light and a lot of discussions have emerged. People run away from their countries to America as refugees. This occurs when there are civil wars, security threats from terrorists, hunger and famine, unemployment and other disasters which have seen people landing another country for safety. Illegal immigrants have managed to enter into the country due to weak enforcement of the law around the borders of America, visa lottery and green card policy which have seen several immigrants’ flooding into America. Former American governments, especially during President Obama’s administration, there were policies formed which welcomed the entry of immigrants into the country and there welfare was taken care of. Some were granted citizenship and was entitled to privileges enjoyed by America’s citizens. Unemployment rates have since increased ,as the immigrants increase ,since they all vie for the same available jobs with Americans citizens. A plethora of monetary funds are budgeted yearly for settlement of refugees and providing them with basic needs, which has slowed down the growth of economy in the country. American citizens have complained of unemployment and other problems facing the country, due to immigrants, and with president Trump companying for removal of immigrants in the country he has formulated and implemented policy which will see his goal of “put America first”. (Martin, 2017).

In the restoration of sanity in immigrants’ issues, the regulatory public policy is effective for the USA. The USA has witnessed thousands of immigrants every year into the country and if left unregulated, the economy will deteriorate at an expeditious rate. Illegal entry into the country needs strict enforcement from law enforcers.

Reports indicate that there are 1.8 million illegal immigrants in the USA who entered while they were children. The borders are so open and the government is a task of ensuring that people don’t enter freely into the country. The issue of building a wall along the border of Mexico and the USA will curb the immigrants. The border which has for long been the entry of unrecognized refugees should be closed. According to the… there have been lots of cases of catch and release along the border in which the police intercepts the culprits and release them without actions, (Martin, 2017).

Another way of regulating the immigrant's issue is by regulating the issuance of green cards. The cards for a long time has seen immigrants relatives entering the country adding the number of refugees needs to be revised so that the spouses and their children will only have access to the country. Currently, there are about 500,000 people holding the cards legally, this means the regulation of the cards will give the government exact statistics of the immigrants and will assist in economic planning. The cards will also provide orderly and legal procedures followed before one is granted access to the country. These people impact on the economy in many ways.

The government should organize programs for swift removal of illegal immigrants. Because some of the immigrants voluntarily flew from their countries in search of jobs and better standards of living the government should regulate the number by the provision of programs which will send back such immigrants. The government should examine and determine those people who do not own legal documents to prove their entrance and whose countries are now stable in terms of security and civil wars return to their countries, ( Passel, et al, 2009).

Legal immigration needs regulation too which implies a reduction in issuance of green cards. According to Trump’s administration, the number of legal immigrants stands at one million, but if only educated, highly skilled and financially stable are issued with cards the number will reduce to 638,000 legal immigrants. The mode of issuing the green cards need be changed and strict adherence to the law, so that only those who meet the requirements get the card.

The regulatory public policy discussed above can be modified to positively impact on the issue or negatively on the immigration issues. To positively impact on the regulatory policy the police should not allow catch and release cases but instead, those who are found committing the crime to receive the punishment accordingly and should never be allowed to enter back into the country even legally. Also, the issue of green cards and swift removal of illegal emigrants are increasing the number of immigrants. Their courts have given a period of up to 12 years to determine the illegal immigrants and process the deportation of the said persons. This is a long period of time and immigrants are using the policy to get into the country and work within such periods. To ensure faster respond the government should implement other policies, for example, doing away with the green cards since those who enter the country even legally add up to the immigrants in the country, (Heer, 2018).

Allowing free access to the country along the Mexico-U.S border will increase the number of legal immigrants within the country and so it will negatively impact on the issue. Many people have had free access to the country and the few who are caught are realized. Abolition of the construction of $25 billion walls on the Mexico-U.S border is another way of encouraging illegal persons into the country. Trumps administration should not fund the project and the issue will become unmanageable.

In the United States of America, immigration is controlled by the Congress. They are in charge of the immigration-related regulations and policies and the White House is tasked with enforcing the laws. The U.S Supreme Court has played a key role in which it has ruled against the legislation from the state in an attempt to evict immigrants, (Legomsky, 1984). The U.S government under Trump administration is very determined to reduce the number of immigrants in the state. The government has proposed the construction of the wall on their border with Mexico; they have also initiated programs to deport those people who entered the country illegally. Trump administration has barred some of the countries from accessing America. The government has given out statements that countries like Somalia, Libya, and mostly Islamic states were under investigations and so the visas to the citizens from such countries were withdrawn until the investigations were concluded. The government is actually planning on regulating the immigrant's issue to solve the problems which have so far affected America economy. However, some of their efforts have been rendered futile since the policies have been challenged by through litigation by immigrants’ right and groups of civil liberties or by the federal government. The business sector is also playing a key role in immigration issues. Most of the American companies depend on the labor of immigrants. Both skilled and non-skilled workers are employed in different companies. Reports show that if the laws which are being legislated are passed and implemented, the country will have a loss of $215 billion from the labor sector. Some businesses legally import skilled workers from other countries to assist them in running of the organizations, (Inglehart & Norris, 2016).

The America immigration issues have for a long time created unending debates, the government, and the policymakers are all responsible for the problems which are arising. Regulations of the immigrants are necessary for every nation to plan for its economy. Even with the natural disasters, insecurity, civil wars, search for jobs and other uncertainties which might occur to people in other countries, entry into another state should be legally acquired.
