Module 3: Access Alternative Assignment for Mac Users

This assignment will replace Module 3: Creating and Querying a Database.

Microsoft Access is not available for Mac computers because Microsoft never wrote the software for Mac computers. As a result, Mac users cannot complete the Access assignment in this module. This assignment is your replacement.

Instructions:

For this assignment, you use Excel to learn about and create PivotTables. You will need to access tutorials at GCFGlobal.

1. Start by visiting this page on GCF Global site: https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/excel2016/intro-to-pivottables/1/

2. Download the “practice workbook” and watch the video tutorial.

3. Open the practice workbook, and using the tutorial on the Web page, complete the following sections:

a. Using PivotTables to answer questions

b. Pivoting data

c. Challenge!

4. Save your Excel Workbook as “Last Name - PivotTables Part 1.xlsx.”

5. Next, visit this page on the GCF Global site: https://edu.gcfglobal.org/en/excel2016/doing-more-with-pivottables/1/

6. Download the “practice workbook” and watch the video tutorial.

7. Open the practice workbook, and using the tutorial on the Web page, complete the following sections:

a. Filters

b. Slicers

c. PivotCharts

d. Challenge!

8. Save your Excel Workbook as “Last Name - PivotTables Part 2.xlsx.”

9. When you are finished, upload your finished Excel files to the D2L drop box to the Module 3: Creating and Querying a Database assignment.
