Collaborative Commerce

Collaborative commerce leverages a combination of intranets and extranets to exchange data between disparate systems. It also creates new application platforms for the delivery of end-to-end process services between internal and external organizations.

Let us consider some examples to understand how systems can exchange data.

ExoStar is a B2B Internet marketplace that provides a collaboration tool for suppliers to collaborate on the design and performance of products developed and sold in the aerospace and defense industries.

Lee Sports’, formally known as Nutmeg Mills, art department provided an efcient e-business method to the licensing boards of Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), and National Hockey League (NHL) to review, collaborate, revise, and approve new designs for proposed, licensed sportswear products to be screen printed on sports apparel. This gave Lee Sport a competitive advantage because it shortened the time-to-market of new products.

After understanding the concepts of e-business and how organizations use them, let us explore the concepts of e-commerce and its applications in the business world.
