Week 2 Discussion 2
I am a Dynamic Learner
· Sequence (25 - Use First)
I always make sure I have clear directions of what the protocols are for any clinical study I am involved in. Before I lay out a plan of action, I ask for clear instructions.
I repeat back to the researcher what my interpretation is of the instructions I just received. I ask a lot of questions and always get those instructions and/or directions in writing.
· Precision (26 - Use First)
My fiancée always laughs at me and says I’m so anal- retentive about things. I just like to make sure I have all my ducks lined up, keeps me organized.
When assisting with writing the curriculum for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Buffalo Soldiers After School Program (BSASP), I practically insisted that there be a short quiz after each chapter. Parks and Wildlife didn’t require it, can you imagine! I believe is was needed so that students could measure how much information they retained about the history. Just because BSASP is an after-school program doesn’t make the learning any less relevant
· Technical Reasoning (17 - Avoid)
My teenage son is so impatient. If I ask him to show me something on the computer (technical operation), he doesn’t show me much and can’t understand why I ask so many questions. He is very hard to communicate with. When I repeat something back to him for clarification he says “Yes, that’s what I just said”. This assignment has really opened my eyes to people who use TR a lot and has helped me to understand they aren’t just jerks.
· Confluence (24 – As needed)
I am an innovative minded person who thinks, a lot, outside the box. I like to try new and different ways of accomplishing objectives. If a procedure or policy isn’t working, I don’t get all upset. I suggest something else. I’m very flexible, which can be a problem when flexibility isn’t an option.
