INITIAL LITERATURE REVIEW ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW For this assignment, you will conduct an Initial Literature Review related to the research problem. When doing research, research problems must be derived from and grounded in the study of literature that addresses the broad topic under consideration. This assignment is an opportunity to explore literature foundational to a dissertation-worthy topic of interest to you. You must identify key theological, theoretical, and thematic research relevant to your research.

You will then develop a 5–7-page summary of these resources and their potential connection to your research problem. The intent is that these pages, when edited, might serve as the introduction to your problem in Chapter One of your Prospectus. INSTRUCTIONS

The assignment must follow current APA style requirements (including requirements of the EdD in Christian Leadership Program Handbook) and follow the outline below.

Description of the Problem – This section must be a brief, general description of the topic or problem which you, the researcher, are considering. It does not have to be a formal statement of the problem, but merely an identification of the area of interest, question, issue, phenomena, or problem you are seeking to understand.

Theological Literature – This section must identify and discuss key theological literature that addresses or creates a background understanding of the area of interest, question, issue, phenomena, or problem you seek to understand. Use a minimum of three correctly cited scholarly resources in this section.

Theoretical Literature – This section must identify and discuss key theoretical literature that addresses or creates a theoretical framework for understanding the area of interest, question, issue, phenomena, or problem which you are seeking to understand. Use a minimum of three correctly cited scholarly resources in this section. Thematic Literature – This section must identify and discuss key thematic research literature that addresses or creates a background understanding of the area of interest, question, issue, phenomena, or problem which you are seeking to understand. Thematic literature is any scholarly work the researcher deems to be relevant to the problem, including dissertations, articles, prior studies, etc. Use a minimum of three correctly cited scholarly resources in this section. This assignment's goal is not to create an exhaustive literature review but to create a preliminary research context for the further development of the research problem in the course. Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.
