Manager's Name and Role:
Healthcare Setting:
Marshall Medical Center
Managerial Issue :
Impact& Details :
The restriction to access the hospital facility limits the Covid-19 transmissions. Patients will visit the facility through video and telephone visits when it's not an emergency. (American Hospital Association, 2020). The WHO restrictions about the Covid-19 direct the healthcare facilities to maintain 2 meters (6 feet) social distancing. It means that the patients and workers in the facility would be transferred to new facilities to meet the standards. There is a lowered capacity to offer more attention and care to Covid-19 patients.
Severity& Details :
The facility's objective was to attend to all patients having different conditions in the community. Still, the challenge is the number of healthcare professionals limited and the increasing spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the facility's focus is on Covid-19 patients, the facility had to establish various plans to include opening clinics outside the facility to allow more providers to serve patients (American Hospital Association, 2020). The increase in the spread of the Covid-19 was due to a lack of education on prevention techniques and ignorance.
Scope& Details :
The outbreak of COVID-19 and the speed it spread without control define its severity. Response to the pandemic requires a pool of knowledge about its advancement and diagnostic. It is a global threat to humanity and the world. It has wreaked significant havoc on the American healthcare system, and because of its gravity, there is a need to pay attention to the disease to control and contain the spread. Health professionals will follow policies executed to educate patients, physicians, etc., about the impact of the COVID-19 virus and its effects on humans and ways to curb its spread.
Two Healthcare Setting Issues:
1. First Healthcare-Related Issue with Characteristics Defined :
Covid-19 pandemic is responsible for respiratory failure. It spread from person to person through droplets from coughing, sneezing, and talking making the spread through social interactions is controlled by limiting movements and interactions to curb the spread. The recent admission of a Covid-19 patient to the Marshall Medical Center facility led to a communication challenge. The patient was subjected to screening for COVID -19 symptoms outside the facility before treatment (American Hospital Association, 2020).
2. Second Healthcare-Related Issue with Characteristics Defined :
The healthcare providers were worried about the new disease. They considered it a significant threat to everyone, and some were not well trained to handle the pandemic making delegation difficult, especially those working in the open clinic screening section. The rise in cases COVID-19 made things complex, and some of the nurses are overworking because of poor planning, delegation, and dedication.
Managerial Role Perspective Details :
The legal policy consultant advises the healthcare institution management to adhere to the laws and policies in place that guide handling the Covid-19 pandemic to avoid a lawsuit. There are laws, policies, and regulations that protect the facility, patients, healthcare providers, and the legal policy consultant to ensure an understanding and implementation in the healthcare industry. Legal policy consultants help handle conflicts between the healthcare providers and the patients to make sure that services are not interrupted. Legal policy consultants understand more about laws. They would educate the management and healthcare professionals on ways to adhere to them, especially the current Covid-19 laws lab where some contradict the basic healthcare laws. The legal policy consultant also drafts the required legal documents that ensure that patient interests and rights are protected to prevent the healthcare organization from making losses caused by fines and lawsuits caused by defying the laws and regulations.
Two Policies, Laws, or Regulations with Responsible Parties Information :
1. First Policy, Law, or Regulation Information :
The World Health Organization issued laws and policies that governments of different countries globally should consider enforcing. One of them is the quarantine of anyone who tests positive for the COVID-19 for 14 days. Patients who exhibit severe COVID-19 symptoms were treated at the isolation centers. (WHO, 2021). The isolated and quarantined individuals are not allowed to be visited to curb the spread of the disease.
2. Second Policy, Law, or Regulation Information :
The other Covid-19 law is about social distancing, where the government issued the policy that a distance of 2 meters (6 feet) be maintained. It has led to banning public gatherings that attract many people to limit the spread of Covid-19 (WHO, 2021). The World Health Organization recommended social distancing and person-to-person contact to determine infection risk to the united states and countries worldwide.
Situation Management- Two Specific Tasks or Steps to Address the Issues :
1. Details: First Task or Step to Address the Issues :
As the legal policy consultant, my role is to ensure all existing anti-discrimination policies be updated to address assumptions regarding COVID-19 and the countries where it originated. Guidelines will be revised to expressly prohibit discrimination and harassment based on national origin, age, disability, and perceived disability.
The management will implement policies and laws that guide isolation and quarantine services and ensure that the facilities' requirements are standard.
2. Details: Second Task of Step to Address the Issues :
I would also make sure that open clinics and developing a tent outside the facility help minimize activities inside the facility to achieve the 2 meters (6 feet) social distancing law lab (WHO, 2021).
Two Stakeholders Defined with Details:
1. First Stakeholder, Role Support, and Stakeholder Importance :
The executive is one of the main stakeholders that offers support by approving more healthcare personnel's hiring process and ensuring that the nurses and doctors are not overworked. The executive is essential because they train the staff and offer counseling services. The stakeholder makes sure that funds and resources are available for quarantine and isolation services. Legal policy consultant guides the management on ways to adhere to the WHO guidelines concerning the Covid-19 pandemic.
2. Second Stakeholder, Role Support, and Stakeholder Importance :
The government is another vital stakeholder that plays an essential role in making sure that the laws about Covid-19 are enforced, like social distancing and quarantine services.
