Week 2 - Assignment: Create an Annotated Bibliography

Instructions

A bibliography is defined as “a list of source materials or references that are used or

consulted in the preparation of a work. References of the bibliography are usually cited in the

text” (Forister & Blessing, 2016, p. 230). Likewise, an annotated bibliography is “a

bibliography that includes, at a minimum, a full reference for the document being reviewed

and a brief summary” (Jacobsen, 2017, p. 345).

This assignment will help you learn how to appropriately search for and summarize possible

scholarly and professional resources that can be used to support your applied doctoral

project. Scholarly resources are those recognized in academia as being peer-reviewed.

Professional literature is information from your professional organizations that are deemed

reputable but may not be peer-reviewed. For example, an article in Healthcare Executive,

published by American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), or a whitepaper found on

the ACHE website would be considered professional literature while an article published in

the Journal of Healthcare Management, also by ACHE, would be considered scholarly and

peer-reviewed.

For this assignment, you will conduct a literary search related to your possible topic for your

applied doctoral project. You will select five resources and create an annotated bibliography.

Your assignment should include the following:

A clear description of your project topic idea including why the topic is being

considered and what contribution the project could make to the field of healthcare.

Key terms used for the literature search.

Databases used for the literature search.

An annotated bibliography containing five resources that include:

An APA-formatted reference list entry for each of the five articles.

A one-paragraph summary of the reference containing:

Provide a brief rationale for the selection of the reference.

References: Include a minimum of 5 scholarly and/or professional resources

Your annotated bibliography should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and
