Reflect: The change of our world from a local economy to a national economy to a global, international economy means that increasingly diverse populations will have to work together to achieve common goals. However, as the economy becomes increasingly global, local economies and people may suffer economic disadvantage or may find themselves marginalized from the rest of the world. Globalization creates ethical dilemmas for which we will need to find solutions. |

Response Ron Mask Hello class and professor, · Explain the implications of globalization. When it comes to globalization, I think we all think of the global economy. There are multiple implications of globalization involving the world we live in, the condition of the economy, and food availability. Global issues are everywhere and we all experience them (Bhargava, 2006). Our economy can be affected, our environment, the things we're capable of doing as well as our decision making, but more at a higher level. With globalization, it has relevancy to climate change because it can affect it. · Identify at least two ethical issues that go along with the global societal topic you have chosen for your final essay. The first ethical issue that I would choose would be sustainability. The second ethical issue that I would choose would be pollution. · Explain how globalization contributes to or affects these ethical dilemmas. Globalization is responsible for how much commerce has expanded during different time periods. Globalization has provided transportation for merchants to sell their merchandise. With the manufacturing of transportation, this can lead to people possibly becoming contaminated with different gases and chemicals. The Earth receives many disadvantages as well because it is taking it all in. We all should work together to try to ensure that we don't damage the environment more than we need to if possible. Smoke is emitted from different transportations as well. · Propose solutions to these ethical dilemmas that are feasible financially, socially, and culturally. People have different views on what can be done to help lessen climate change. The most popular way to lessen climate change is to stay away from energy sources that are man-made or non-renewable because they can lead to pollution and discharges. It would be beneficial if we all used an energy source that is sustainable. I think we should continue to try to find new ways to lessen climate change so the world will be healthier. Hi Class, · Explain the implications of globalization. According to Bhargava (2006), “Globalization can be understood as a driving force affecting many global issues, from migration to fair trade to debt relief” (p. 2, para 1). These global issues include the economy, human development, our environment, natural resources, safety and security, and governance. As the interconnectedness of our world continues to grow through financial trade, the opportunity to “tap into more and larger markets” worldwide and increase incomes is also expanding significantly (Bhargava, 2006). However, this growth brings unequal gains and opportunities for our society. One concern specifically is financial stability. Globalization threatens economic stability and may lead to high unemployment rates, heightened migration, and social conflict (Bhargava, 2006). · Identify at least two ethical issues that go along with the global societal topic you have chosen for your final essay. · Explain how globalization contributes to or affects these ethical dilemmas. · Propose solutions to these ethical dilemmas that are feasible financially, socially, and culturally. My societal topic focuses on pollution. Air pollution presents many risks to human and environmental health. Globalization presents an increased transport of goods and services, resulting in increased emissions, habitat destruction, and invasive species, all of which contribute to all forms of pollution (Stobierski, 2021). Another issue lies within economic specialization. According to Stoberski (2021), a “...side effect of globalization is that it allows nations and geographical regions to focus on their economic strengths, content in knowing they can turn to trading partners for goods they don’t produce themselves” (para 7). While this specialization increases efficiency, overspecialization may result in deforestation, habitat destruction, or increased use of natural resources. Specific examples include illegal deforestation in Brazil due to the high demand for cattle ranching, overfishing leading to aquatic pollution, and an over-dependence on coffee, fruit, and other crops contributing to habitat loss (Stobierski, 2021). The most effective solutions involve implementing government and organizational policies to minimize these adverse effects. For example, Bhargava (2006) discusses the removal of lead additives to reduce air pollutants. In addition, there must be changes made that involve using less polluted energy fuels. Hi Everyone,
Being ethical can mean different things to different people. Everyone’s moral compass and ethical beliefs can differ making each person’s experience different from the next. In my opinion, being ethical overall means to be understanding and respectful, accepting of others beliefs and views, and making the best decisions that I see fit for the any aspect in my life whether that be professionally, personally, or academically. The following are a few examples of what I consider to be ethical in the different aspects of life. When it comes to my professional life, I always move in the best interest of the company I am working for in collaboration with the my personal ethics to conduct business appropriately and honestly. As long as I am not asked to do complete a task or address a situation in a way that I would be considered to be “wrong”, I move forward with all decisions and tasks accordingly. In short, using ethics for me is primarily understanding the difference between wrong and right in any situation or setting.
While working at a previous employer as a mortgage loan processor and underwriter, I came across a situation where a young single man had worked very hard to make his money work for him. This gentleman owned multiple properties and was helping his family to the best of his ability. When the opportunity presented itself to refinance his multiple rental properties with the institution I was with to benefit from the lower interest rate, his application came under great scrutiny due to his age and the location of his rental properties. This seemed like a much larger issue than just the information that he provided on paper and I was consumed with the feeling that a decision would be made about this young mans application based on the information perceived by the second underwriter and not the information that had been presented and verified (as it should be). Shortly after the application was taken, the second underwriter on the file delayed the process – intentionally – so the information provided would expire and new information would be required to proceed. This was done as a tactic to determine if the potential borrower would be able to provide the same income and financial information as he did when the process began. This was completely unethical and caused the borrower much more than the process would have warranted. Because of this, and other very small but visible unethical behavior, I resigned from my position and found employment elsewhere where I was comfortable with the decisions and work practices being completed.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Explain what it means to be ethical as it relates to personal, academic, and professional growth.
To distinguish between right and wrong, people must adhere to a moral code related to ethics. It's an excellent code to have ingrained in your everyday life to ensure you always act and make the right decisions in all aspects, such as your personal, academic, and professional life. Everyone has their own beliefs about ethics and how it applies to them; therefore, what constitutes ethics to one person may not constitute ethics to another. There are, nevertheless, fundamental ethical principles. For instance, most individuals tend to agree that cheating on a test or being unfaithful to a spouse is wrong.
Provide at least one ethical dilemma you have encountered, and describe how the issue was resolved.
I recently encountered an ethical dilemma in my professional life. I experienced harassment and discrimination at work, and as I was preparing a rebuttal statement, I behaved inappropriately. I've always had a short fuse, and I might have lost a customer that day. I formally apologized to my customer and informed them that my behavior was inappropriate. I also requested that they stop making assumptions about me based on my gender or size because I have a lot of knowledge to share. I got a note in response, thanking me for the apology, complimenting my spunk, and promising to return soon with additional customers. It's a hilarious story I would love to share one day in more detail.
Describe how your general education courses have influenced your ethical values.
My grasp of ethics has been enhanced and expanded by general education courses, which have provided me with a different viewpoint. One of the most important things about general education courses is that they explain the "why" behind concepts, which helps me put things together. I have a firm conviction that those who are knowledgeable and educated are held to a higher standard. The knowledge of moral ethics should be a source of inspiration for others.
