Week 2 - News Team Publication Print News Publication Your news team publication for this week will be in the form of a newspaper. In order to work on the publication together as a group, you will be using Google Docs (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. Each group member will insert his or her own story into the appropriate area of the document and each editor will then edit the designated page. It is important the writer of the story also save a copy of the original story in a Word document to be submitted with the final publication in Waypoint. This will ensure that your original work is also considered in the final grade. Remember, that editors have a choice of what to include and what to remove from the final work. Each student must upload the following three documents to Waypoint: A Word document of the original story that the student wrote The Peer Editing Checklist for News StoriesPreview the document for the story the student was assigned to edit A PDF copy of the final news team’s publication For individual news stories, students must Write a full page story about a topic that is currently in the news. Summarize facts and/or statistics that are relevant to the story. Compare two opposing opinions about the topic one of which must include an original interview to support the story. Provide proper attribution for all sources of information included in the story. Incorporate at least two visual elements to enhance the print story. For edited story assignments students must Utilize the Peer Editing Checklist for News Stories to evaluate the story of the section they were assigned. Must include stories from each team member. Must adhere to the conventions for print publications. Put your publication on the newsstand! In the real world, you may see people sitting around a café or coffee shop reading news from various publications. Once your team has finalized the publication, the Editor-in Chief should load it to the Ashford Café so that we can all explore the various styles and creative elements that each team used to reach the same audience. Waypoint Assignment Submission The assignments in this course will be submitted to Waypoint. Please refer to the instructions below to submit your assignment. Click on the Assignment Submission button below. The Waypoint "Student Dashboard" will open in a new browser window. Browse for your assignment. Click Upload. Confirm that your assignment was successfully submitted by viewing the appropriate week's assignment tab in Waypoint.
