Preventing cases of falling at the center of rehabilitation

Introduction:

A significant challenge in the settings of rehabilitating patients who are hospitalized is cases of patients falling within the facility. We can describe the patient falls as severe cases that lead to injuries, additional treatment costs, and an increased number of hospitalized days. Studies show that most events of patients falling are scenarios that could be prevented. These occurrences are predicted to have significant side effects on patients once they become senior citizens. Hospital falls are the results of deadly schemes of many risk factors, both internal and external ones. It is crucial to collect well-detailed data regarding these risk factors that lead to falls of patients to ensure that the needed policies for prevention are created and established (Chan.et.al, 2019). This study allows us to develop a program that will be educational in implementing the risk management strategies of clients at this facility.

Rationale:

The prevention program of falls involves managing the risk factors that could contribute to a patient falling. It is essential to ensure that the patient needs and priorities of a facility are compatible with the program to be developed. It will ensure that the prevention program is very effective in mitigating cases of falls (Honn.et.al, 2019). The educational program helps comply with the federal and state guidelines of creating a safe environment for the patients. It will be important in reducing the costs that patients incur when they get injuries in the facility. Moreover, the facility will be in a better position to lower cases of readmissions and shorten the hospitalization days. In doing this, there will be increased positive patient outcomes, and the staff members will operate in a safe environment.

Support:

According to previous research studies, patient fall cases in healthcare facilities are approximately 900,000 in the whole of the united states. Many incidents of falling in the healthcare facility contribute to the extension of hospital days for up to 6 days, while the mean medical costs added in every case are approximated to be 14,000 dollars. The high numbers have necessitated the medical facilities to be encouraged to educate staff members and their clients (Jule, 2020). The facilities have been required to revise their risk assessment tests and improve communication of the geography of the facility to prevent these incidences. The nurses are primarily assigned roles of assessing the risk factors and helping patients to combat the problem.

Implementation:

The program of preventing falls can be implemented by first ensuring that the necessary authorities are informed of the plans. It is crucial to check that the set guidelines for patient safety have been observed in the organization. One should also collect information regarding the falls and the different injuries resulting from them. The facility should develop a system of monitoring the cases to ensure that these incidents are taken seriously (Hechavarria & Kudyba, 2021). Additionally, the data should be used to determine the most suited strategies to prevent these scenarios.

Challenges:

The medical care facility might face the issue of training for staff members being inadequate to conduct the educational program properly. Moreover, the physical environment, which is problematic, could negatively affect lowering the cases of work-related injuries (Chinman.et.al, 2019). It is helpful to ensure that all stakeholders in the medical setting are educated, and therefore they will see the importance of establishing the intervention policies.

Evaluation:

To ensure that the intervention strategies will be effective, one should ensure that the individuals listed as being at higher risk of falling are examined on their capability to utilize them. The reports of such incidences after the program's application would also showcase how efficient the program has been (Sorano.et.al, 2019). It is essential to keep updating the prevention strategies annually to ensure the program will remain valuable in solving the problem.

Opportunities:

The healthcare facility should ensure that the medical environments are improved and favorable to different patients and workers. The obstacles within the facility that mainly result in the accidents should be removed and placed in areas where they will not hinder day-to-day operations. The hallways should have sections where individuals can use to support themselves. The flooring of the institution should be made in a manner that is not slippery when walking on.

PLEASE FIND WITHIN THE FEEDBACK FROM THE PROFESSOR,THANKS

Given this was a paper, it is not as in depth as an outline would be at the same word count. Please be sure to ask if you have questions. Announcements clarified this was an outline and the forum. Some areas of the outline are thin. Please see rubric. Please expect to do more research and create an educational part for all parts. . Intro: what studies? Missing conclusion. Information going forward for WEEK 5 – Heads up tips: Be sure to include a thesis in the next work, solid intro and conclusion for any presentation. Rubrics are available. Be sure to include speaker notes. This is conversational and what you would discuss. The slides should have enough information on them to be detailed but not paragraphs like an essay. .Challenges and Opportunities: Ideas or suggestions about areas of focus regarding risk management the organization could or should address moving forward into the future? This part requires critical thinking and I will be looking closely at this. Challenges should be clear from opportunities. Do not forget to include a conclusion slide.
