Week 2 - Assignment

Sports/Entertainment News Story and Broadcast Script

Sports and entertainment news stories are truly tailored for specific audiences. The ability to make stories of this type fresh and interesting is the mark of a good sports or entertainment journalist. For this week, you will write a 450- to 500-word print news story for a magazine feature and a 3- to 5-minute broadcast script about a sports or entertainment journalism topic. You will choose an issue surrounding a famous sports player or an entertainer who is currently in the news and prepare the story for a real-world sports or entertainment magazine and for a televised sports or entertainment news program. Your angle to the story must be different from what you have seen in the news, and you must seek different sources of information from what you have heard on broadcast programs.

The assignment must

· Identify the media outlets where the story will appear.

· Summarize facts and/or statistics that are relevant to the story.
