Emma Beard
Professor and Class,
While it can be very easy for those outside of the human services fields to understand the difference between case management and therapy when looking at actual services provided there is a very big difference. Case managers are there to help individuals obtain the services they need in order to have a fulfilling life. This can be a combination of services such as therapy, medical treatment, housing, or even employment. Therapy would be a service that a case manager would help the individual receive whether helping them for finding a therapist, creating a calendar to help maintain their therapy sessions, and checking in with them to ensure they are utilizing or still in need of the therapy. This is why listening skills as so important for case managers as in order for them to help the individual gain the services they need they must be able to listen to the person and create an individual service plan.
I hope everyone is having a great week,
Emma
