Plagiarism is the act of copying or paraphrasing the work or ideas of other people in a work without explicit acknowledgment of their authorship. Included in this concept is any material, made public or unpublished, manuscript, printed or in electronic version. Plagiarism is generally seen as a negative aspect due to the damage it can cause to the reputation of the school. It is far more important to have a reputation for being a school where plagiarism is taken seriously than for a place where it never occurs.
Unfortunately, plagiarism has become something common that does not only occur among students, since also young academics, and researchers, have made plagiarism something that happens every day, without the consequences being fully understood, and in many cases, without even realizing that they are committing plagiarism, or better understood, stealing ideas.
Although academic plagiarism at all levels has become a serious problem, contrary to ethics and in some cases breaking copyright laws, that is, committing a crime, it is necessary that this issue be addressed in schools from more early age and even professional education. But it must be approached in a more profound way, so that it does not remain solely and exclusively in the student's idea, that with the simple fact of citing something in quotation marks, he is no longer plagiarizing, but we must explain the consequences that said act entails as it should be cited correctly.
Safe Assign is a plagiarism control tool based on a unique text matching algorithm capable of detecting exact and inaccurate matches between a document and reference material. Safe Assign compares submitted assignments against a set of academic papers to identify areas of overlap between submitted assignments and existing assignments.
