presenting the problem

You stated that the research you will be conducting is to guide managers and leaders on the importance and usefulness of smooth employee offboarding. However, what will be your question to guide this research? How will this study be conducted and how can you quantify the data for this class? All research requires data and I do not see how this will be done, based on the information here. What is the problem in your organization? When employees leave your organization, is the exit negative? Please narrow this down and tell me specifically what the problem is, how are you going to fix it? Why is it occurring? Is there a problem with retention and with the use of the exit interviews, your organization can remedy the problem? This is a very good post.  You communicated in writing with a vague description of the topic that supported the thesis. Your topic is supported with examples. Your analysis is insightful and does clearly address key issues, problems, and questions.

You will give a purpose statement and a research question that you will test throughout the course to see if you can reject, or fail to reject your hypothesis of what it is that you are planning on testing. Additionally, you will end up working on annotated bibliography.  In addition, you will find within that section an example of how to format your annotated bibliography.

Define a business problem including problem statement, purpose and objective.

Building off of the business problem you identified in week one, you will construct a memo to your boss (use the  Parts of a Memo  guide to help you with writing and formatting). Within the memo, you will present the business problem, the purpose of the study (example statement: “The purpose of the study is to gain information to address the problem introduced in week 1"), followed by a relevant and testable research question. The research question should adhere to the following guidelines:

1. formation of question is based on theory, previous research and experience;

2. stated in the form of a question; and

3. is focused and clear (i.e., specific, measurable, and feasible).
