Antimicrobial resistance is a menace to the health care system. The resistance is developed by microorganisms after long-term exposure to antibiotics. Resistance of microorganisms increases the disease burden and endangers patients' lives (Dadgostar, 2019).The world is heading to a serious health crisis where minor infections may lead to death as a result of microbial resistance to drugs.

Nurses have a role to play if the health care sector is to win the war against antimicrobial resistance. Nurses can promote the correct use of antimicrobial drugs by reducing the inappropriate prescription of the drugs. Excessive use of drugs is a common cause of antimicrobial resistance. As nurses are the primary healthcare providers, they can see to it that there is an accurate dispensation of drugs. Antimicrobial stewardship ensures drugs are given only when necessary (Ladenheim, 2018).

Domestic and global disease surveillance involves the detention, follow-up, assessment, and response given to health events. Domestic disease surveillance systems encompass a collection of data, analysis, and interpretation at the household level. Global disease surveillance systems collect data from countries and international public health entities to determine preparedness for health emergencies. Both global and domestic disease Surveillance systems are correlated in the sense that information from domestic surveillance is used to assess the global disease burden. Detecting diseases on time ensures the world does not suffer from serious disease threats. Family nurse practitioners are in direct contact with patients and can create a good rapport with them (Andrews et al., 2021). The nurses aid in promoting healthy lifestyle choices hence reducing the global burden of diseases. Family nurses collect critical patient data that can be used in the assessment of domestic disease status.

Nurses and nursing organizations might improve policies to encourage the judicious use of antibiotics in humans.

Nurses and nursing organizations are critical in promoting antibiotic judiciousness because they monitor and implement patient care. However, inappropriate antibiotic usage has grown widespread, necessitating the development of more substantial prevention initiatives by nursing organizations. Nursing groups can begin by conducting public relations campaigns. These campaigns will educate the public on the difference between bacterial and viral illnesses and the possible risks associated with antibiotic use, resulting in a shift in health-related behavior. Nursing organizations can also increase clinic-based education by providing knowledge that is instantly helpful for the recipient during consultation. This will ensure that care providers assess their material to emphasize the information they provide regarding appropriate antibiotic usage (Belongia, 2017). Additionally, nurses can engage with community groups, schools, and pharmacies to spread the message of prudent antibiotic use.

Correlation between global disease surveillance and domestic disease surveillance and the family nurse practitioner's significant role.

Disease surveillance is the process of collecting, analyzing, and systematically interpreting health-related data. Domestic disease surveillance is correlated to global disease surveillance in that it makes use of global illness data to do further research and develop a strengthened laboratory surveillance system. The family nurse practitioner's job is to offer primary and preventative care (Nsubuga et al., 2016). This is accomplished by ordering, administering, and evaluating medical tests, compiling medical histories, and giving patients medication and other therapies. In addition, the family nurse practitioners manage the patient's documents and records, create medical care plans, and counsel the patients and their family members.
