Chapter 15: Finishing the Project and Realizing the Benefits.

This chapter deals with all of the processes and issues involved in finishing a project either on time or prematurely. After completing this chapter, each student should be able to perform the following:

Core Objectives:

1.Describe how to determine when a project should be terminated early and the process for terminating a project in normal completion time.

2.Describe the importance of the project closing activities and how to perform them.

3. Create and present a transition plan for the project, including a plan for ongoing support and sharing lessons learned.

4.Capture and share project lessons learned.

Behavioral Objectives:

Secure customer feedback and acceptance of the project.

Assist senior management in managing talent and managing resources for upcoming projects.

Technical Objectives:

Close your projects administratively using MS Project.

Reflect on the assigned readings for the week. Identify what you thought was the most important concept(s), method(s), term(s), and/or any other thing that you felt was worthy of your understanding.

Also, provide a graduate-level response to each of the following questions:

Give two examples of why a project might be terminated early for cause and two examples of why a project might be terminated early for convenience.

Imagine you are creating a lesson learned database for a recent project you have completed. What would you list as your top issues? Your top successes

The sponsor of a large multi-phased project you are managing suddenly decides to terminate the project early. How do you respond? How and when do you notify your team members?
