MRKT 1299 Weekly Internet Reflections Solomon Chapters 14 & 15

Due: Sunday at 11:00 pm Grade: 10 Marks (Total Reflections = 15% of final grade) Chapter 14 - Cultural Influences on Consumer Behaviour Chapter 15 – The Creation and Diffusion of Culture Instructions This is an individual assignment. You should send me one document with the answers below for Chapters 14 & 15. You can upload a word document with your submission. Make sure that you use some form of word document (doc or docx or pdf file) as it makes it much easier to cut, paste and attach your work over the Internet. Powerpoint presentations will not be accepted for your assignments. Be sure to save a copy of your work in case I do not receive it for some reason. You can always resend it if necessary. 1) Review the Stats Canada At a Glance pdf file on the Moodle site.

2) Take a look at the Canadian Demographic Profile on the Moodle site or at the following link:

3) Go to www.macleans.ca Find two articles on current issues in Canada. These can be from any section from News to Politics to Economy to Education to Culture to Society etc., etc., You do not need to subscribe or log in. Just scroll down to the different articles and click on them. Provide a brief one paragraph summary of the two articles you have chosen.

Answer the following questions: (2 – 3 pages max.)

1. What is your reaction to these two articles? 2. What does it mean to be a Canadian? 3. What are some fundamental values and beliefs that would differentiate us from our

neighbours? Other countries around the world?

4. As we welcome thousands of immigrants from around the world, how will our values be shaped? What opportunities and challenges will we face as a country in maintaining an identity?
