Access control is one of the security features that organizations embrace to ensure information and assets are protected from unauthorized parties. Guidelines and procedures are developed through a policy where necessary steps are taken to ensure limited access to some of the important infrastructure within the organization. Such policies are necessary in how access is controlled and this protects the company from intrusion or malicious actions from unauthorized people or control the staff member’s activities within the premise.
Guidelines and procedures for access control are essential in protecting the organization’s assets. Physical locks and other security features are essential in the organization in the sense that they aid in protecting assets from people who may want to steal them. Also, control guidelines ensure that there are records of who accesses which facility and their activities within such a location. When there is a clear record of parties who access the assets and systems, it is possible to trace any form of malicious action which may have been committed in the organization’s premises (Yngström & Carlsen, 2013).
Having guidelines and procedures helps the organization to reduce chances of fraud being committed. For instance, the management information systems have to be protected by a policy which states clear guidelines and procedures that have to be followed when accessing them. Some people within the organization may want to engage in fraudulent activities. When there are guidelines on how the systems should be accessed, such activities will not be successful because there is a trail left on who accesses the systems and the kind of activities they do (Yngström & Carlsen, 2013). Therefore, guidelines and procedures have several benefits, hence they are important in protecting the organization’s assets and systems.

The importance of guidelines and procedures for access control
In every organization, there are is the need to implement access control guidelines and policies. The management always focuses in delivering the best practices on access control system by giving out the guidelines to avoid making mistakes that can lead to risks, threats, and vulnerabilities in the company security assets and services involving network servers.
The guidelines and procedures contain specific information on the ways the organization implement ways on how the policy will be deployed and which part of the organization will use the policy to run the operation. This is the most important since it helps the user to specifically understand where to apply the policy.
Sometimes, there is some of the policy which are recommendations and must be applied by the user. The guidelines are made on the recommended policy for efficient implementations. The procedures used in access control are created by the management using the decision information made from the guidelines (Lopez & Juan, 2018). The guidelines act as a risks mitigation plan since it contains information regarding risks, threats, and vulnerabilities when the user does not adhere to the policy needed in the access control system.
The access control system helps the organization to effectively control all their operation by securing their assets and confidential data. Therefore, going against the guidelines and procedures used in access control can lead to risking all the secured assets and cloud computing servers hacking the most useful confidential information which can cause operating system data breaching.
In conclusion, the access control guidelines and procedures are made after identifying the type of risks and analyze the risks that can be caused by the risks identified (Chong, 2018). The management focuses on their decision before making useful guidelines and procedures to be implemented as an access control policy.
