Provide two (2) examples of how you plan to use what you've learned in this course to be a change agent and to promote evidence-based practice.

SAMPLE#1

As I reflect on this course and the things that I have learned includes my building my confidence in research. At the beginning of the session, I was very nervous and concern about the capstone I found myself doubting a lot regarding if I was ready or not because all I knew was I must write a big research paper. The first thing was to find a good topic for the research, but at the same time I wanted to do something that can help the community and decided to go with Diabetes Type 2 a topic that is probably very popular, I knew it was going to be a challenge.  The first week feedback was not what I expected same as my grade, I think that was the lowest grade I ever had but I took it and decided to work hard in this class and give the best of me. I learned that support is always there if you look for it, I reached to my instructor for clarification on the things I missed and how to get better, I took the feedback with appreciation and learned from my mistake and got better for the second week. The feedback received made me realized the points I was missing and where the mistakes were made.

The three things I learned in this course that I did not know before includes:

How to collect the information and then apply it, in the correct way as well. I learned that all the information that is gather through evidence base research is important but the whole idea of research is to get what is best and then apply it the correct way.

The second thing I learned is to be open mind and accept when things are done incorrectly and learned from my mistakes. The first grade I got was very bad to the point that I doubt myself, but I kept an open mind and accept the things the way it was and move on and learned from my mistakes to get better in the class.  The third thing I learned is to always use all the resources available because they can make a difference. By using all the resources that South University has I was able to not only improve my grades on the project and increase my knowledge but also to become better at conducting research.

I am planning on using everything I learned in this class to continue advocating for the community that lack of education regarding their medical conditions.  I learned how to properly conduct a research and apply the information in education to the patients to make changes in their lives.

Sample#2

As I reflect on this course when I started this course, I was very nervous about the capstone project, as I’m not fond of writing research papers. However, my first feedback on week 1 about my topic was the most brutal feedback I have received. This feedback made me realize I needed to analyze what my true intentions for this project was going to be based on and to focus on the actual knowledge gap deficit and where there needs to be a change made. I learned I needed to focus and recognize gaps I have encountered in my clinical practice. This class will help me recognize gaps wherever I go and will guide me to perform a thorough research on ways to be able to bridge the gap and present to my superiors to be able to make a change in my clinical practice. This class has also thought me that I am ready to be a change for my patient’s and my peers by implementing the latest evidence-based guidelines treatment by being able to look up credible information to utilize in my practice. Last, this class has allowed me to reflect back and think of different scenarios that proves that I have met all of the NONPF competencies for MSN-FNP throughout my clinical practice. Most importantly I will be able to bring my leadership skills into the practice by participating in meetings and collaborating with my peers for to introduce new innovative ideas guided by research evidence-based practice
