It has scientifically been proven that smoking cigarettes causes cancer and other health issues and many local governments in the United States have placed a very high tax on the purchase of cigarettes to discourage smoking. For example, in New York City a pack of cigarettes cost $14. Should the government create policies to reduce childhood and adult obesity? Why or why not? What steps do you think the government should take to deal with this latest health crisis?
