VPN is a good start, but it is not a complete security solution in itself. To be truly secure when using the home network, we will need to be forced to use RADIUS authentication to connect to the VPN. Yes, RADIUS can be used for VPN authentication. To identify the remote users, we can use RADIUS. RADIUS Cloud services, on the other hand, are more convenient and secure (Rajamohan, 2014).

The main reason businesses use the VPN is not because of the encrypted connection or the masking of the traffic it provides - sometimes it is to allow remote machines to be “virtually present” to connect to the on-premises network and the services stored in it. Remote Authentication Dial-in User Service

Remote authentication dial-in user service (RADIUS) is described as an internet protocol that deals with authentication factors and accounting services (Munadi et al., 2019). The RADIUS services are based on the dial-up network which is a distributed network system (Li et al, 2020). The main objective of these services is to handle unauthorized access and monitor unusual network service activities. Similarly, virtual private networks (VPNs) are considered as the network security which protects the organization data by applying encryption procedures which is useful for protecting the sensitive data of the organization (Munadi et al., 2019). The main objective of the VPN services is to prevent unauthorized access in the network and regulate the network services. RADIUS has beneficial factors in the VPN service-based networks which will undergo in authenticating the network access and controlling the resource allocations (Radhakrishnan & Karuppiah, 2019).

RADIUS servers are mostly used for accounting purposes and it requires continuous monitoring and statistical elements for collection and analyzing the data (Munadi et al., 2019). The services of the RADIUS will be implemented when the accounting issues are raised in the sections (Li et al, 2020). The main difference between the RADIUS and VPN were both are designed for protecting the network and can be utilized for remote authentication purposes. RADIUS has a single goal in authenticating the remote access in the network layer (Munadi et al., 2019). VPN is designed for protecting browser-based protocols like hypertext transfer protocol (HTTPS) which will be useful for secure transmission from one place to another. EAP-TTLS-PAP is one of the most widely RADIUS mechanisms which is based on cloud computing services. It ensures that TLS encryption is secured during the data stream (Radhakrishnan & Karuppiah, 2019).The main advantage of VPN services is they can change the IP address of the computer or device and create a secured platform for sharing or transferring sensitive information from one place to another by using remote access (Radhakrishnan & Karuppiah, 2019). The main advantage of VPN over RADIUS is encryption methodology which will be useful in securing the data during the transmission. VPNs are more affordable compared to the RADIUS and are reliable in remote transmission services (Li et al, 2020). NordVPN, Express, and Windscribe are the current market VPN services that are reliable for protecting network services (Munadi et al., 2019).
