Considering the Audience |
Prepare: News media organizations must understand that in order to be successful, the audience must first be considered and the organization must have a clear vision of what separates them from the competition. To learn more about these aspects of media management, read Chapters 1 and 2 of the textbook. Then, review Institutional Data for enrolled student characteristics (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. for characteristics about the audience you will be writing for during the course. |
Reflect:Now that you have read the chapters and explored the audience that you will serve in Weeks 2, 3, and 4, think about the following: · What steps should your news team take in putting the audience first? · What does your news team’s brand need to look like to resonate with your audience? |
Write: After you have considered your audience and your brand, discuss with your news team your thoughts on how to effectively deliver news to the intended audience.

Respond to Peers: Respond to at least two of your news team members about their thoughts on the audience in a 100-150 word post. Be sure to address all team members by name and include your name at the end of your response. Note: While you are not required to meet in Zoom this week, if you are able to connect with your news team during this week for five minutes to test your technology, you will have the chance to address any issues prior to your actual Budget Meetings in Weeks 2, 3, and 4. |
