Subject: Art Work Museum Database Environment
Date:
Analysis of the Database environment
The database environment is based on an art work museum. The aim of the proposed database environment is to cater for all the components that make an artwork museum. A typical art gallery or museum is characterized by categorization of the different arts. This is usually based on the artwork, the artist responsible for it and the location at which it is displayed for viewing. This can be achieved by having a database that stores all the essential data on a particular artwork found within the museum. In addition to this, the database offers more security (TechTarget, 2017). The art work database apply the MYSQL environment to handle and record all the data within the museum.
Problems and constraints
At the moment, the artwork museum relies on the way they have categorized art materials for one to find a particular work in the gallery. The problem is that, the sorting is not systematic. That is, the artworks are not arranged into unique categories and hence making it very difficult to search for a particular art. Apart from making the search difficult, it is also time consuming.
Objectives of the database environment
The objectives of the proposed art work museum database environment include:
· Provide a depository for storing all the data pertaining to a given artwork.
· Create a user friendly database environment.
· Create a system capable of replacing the manual one at the museum.
· Provide a system that allow easy location of a particular piece of in the gallery.
Scope and boundaries
The database search module will enable the user to look for any artwork and information about it so long as it has been stored in the database. The database will also contain a security module acting as the access control. The access control is made up of the authorization and authentication components (Cvrček, 1998). Furthermore, the system will generate reports on matters such as the most searched artwork.
