WEEK 1 COURSE PROJECT 2

Week 1 Course Project: Topic Selection

The topic I have chosen is “Free college for everyone.”

The specific issue I will be exploring is “Should college be free for everyone?” I think

college should be free for all. I endorse the concept and believe that granting free college

to everyone would help people excel and as a result, contribute to the country and its people.

Rise in Graduation Rates

The proportion of students who are to go to college will significantly raise. After

graduating from high school several younger demographics opt to leave their studies. As not only

would they need to raise for living but also strive to meet their daily necessities such as

accommodation and food. Within that situation, entering college is very difficult for these

individuals because college is expensive, and they would also need to think about textbooks and

other materials needed to be effective for their course. However, if there was free education,

people would not need to think about fees, and this would only lead in a spike in the amount of

students applying for college.

Stress about Debt

Young people should not be stressed thinking about debt and repayment, and they ought

to be able to pick their major in college openly without questioning to follow their ambitions or

not (ProCon.org, 202). Several learners select the field of study looking at the price tag. They

pick a relatively cheap major which will be easy to pay off with a loan. Several individuals

suppress their interests to stop having to repay the massive college loan upon graduating. For

instance, so many people have dreamt of being a doctor or lawyer, but not all can manage the

price tag for medical or law school. Say they student is smart, he or she will still pick another

major to avoid the expense.

Benefitting US Economy

Having free college education would not only help the students, bit it would also support

the United States economy and the community. Individuals would have better job opportunities if

they are well qualified. This will spur innovation and GDP for the country (ProCon.org, 2020).
