The wedding is a process that entails a number of the activities and overlooking of any activity can cause the delay or even cancel of the event. Various parties are to be consulted and their services are necessary for the smooth running of the day who include legal officers, religious officials, and parents. It may seem to be a single day but behind the doors, it could have taken years and sleepless nights of planning. After coming up with a project team tasked to steer forward my wedding party and finalizing all the arrangements and developing how the activities would flow, I thought all is done but this was not the case. It took me by surprise when I realized that few adjustments needed to be done to the whole programme to an extent that wedding could not progress if some were not attended to (Zhu, 2015).
First and foremost, I realized that there was a need to reserve for structural necessities such as the portable toilets for the outdoor event and hire more chairs due to a large number of people that had confirmed to attend the wedding all at a cost of $150. I also noticed that marriage license was needed for the event to progress and that was a legal requirement which would take me three days at a cost of $30. Additionally, had to source for the master of the ceremony for the fundraising event which was not featured in a fundraising arrangement and this would cost not less than $40. It also dawned on me that wedding website was necessary and had to have a person who would manage it since I was much occupied where the progress of the plan would be updated to ensure those far away have the information of what is going on and this would have an outlay of $50.
Similarly, the engagement party was not in the programme and the groom's parents felt it necessary to be held for them to introduce the bride into our family that she may not come as a stranger. Since this was not in the programme and some family guest were to be invited and not only that, few of family members of the bride were to be also be invited and to wrap it all, the arrangement of the meals for the day could not be left out and the budget hit at $200 ( Meslay, 2018). As this not being enough, the place we had organized for the honeymoon, the state declared that could not accept the citizens from my country due to outbreak of the Ebola in my country which caused me to feel as if I was not required in this earth anymore but in all I had to take heart since had no power over it.
When all this unraveled to me, I called the committee and did a cost analysis and found the adjustments would increase our budget by $500. The committee was devoted to seeing the success of the event and with all this huge adjustment they seemed strong and ready to sacrifice and source for external assistance to what they could not handle themselves. I immediately started the process to obtain the licensed marriage and also sourcing another place where we could for the honeymoon. The committee planned for an engagement party, sourced personnel to create and manage the wedding website and also ensured the structural changes needed were done. Despite the facts that there were ups and down to the planning of the event and the abrupt changes that came over after project committee was through with all planning, the resilience of the team that was in place encouraged me and for sure had confidence that everything that would arise they had the capability to handle all of the success of the big day.
