Experiment outline: problem question
How does soap interact with water?
Literature review
In an elementary school environment, children frequently fail to comprehend the significance of cleaning their hands. Students are shown how to help avoid the transmission of germs and the necessity of washing their hands with soap while conducting the hands-on pepper soap experiment. The experiment will highlight the soap impact on our hands if we do not wash our hands with soap. The pepper is intended to symbolize bacteria (Pepper and soap experiment. (2013). The surface tension of the water may break down soap—which makes soap an excellent cleanser. The pepper does not float on top of the water when the soap travels into the water and the surface pressure changes.
Hypothesis
If a bowl of water is mixed with pepper, then adding soap will dispel the pepper.
Variables
Independent variable: soap dish
Variable dependent: pepper
Water controlled variable:
Materials
Bowl
Pepper
Water
Liquid soap
Procedure
Fill the basin halfway with water
Sprinkle the pepper equally in the bowl over the water.
Tap your finger lightly without any applied soap and wait for the response. This stands for a hand that is unwashed.
Apply a little soap on your finger
Predict what you believe the response will show when your finger touches the soap.
Tap the water with your finger
Discuss your response before touching the water with soap on your finger and compare it to your forecast.
Review and compare findings (Pepper and soap experiment. (2013)
