Step 1 Download start file

In this project, you will be modifying a customer letter for GreenScapes landscaping company. You will be modifying a SmartArt diagram, creating and working with a table, changing the look of the logo, and modifying a shape.

1. Open the start file WD2016-SkillReview-8-1. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the project file name if directed to do so by your instructor, and save it.

2. If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editing button in the Message Bar at the top of the document so you can modify the document.

3. Modify a SmartArt diagram.

a. Click the block list SmartArt diagram near the top of the letter.

b. Click the SmartArt Tools Design tab.

c. In the SmartArt Styles group, click the Intense Effect style. It is the fifth option in the gallery.

d. In the SmartArt Styles group, click the Change Colors button and select the Colored Fill - Accent 2 option. It is the second option in the Accent 2 section.

4. Convert text to a table.

a. Select the text from Lawn Care to Customer Discount.

b. Click the Insert tab.

c. In the Tables group, click the Table button and select Convert Text to Table...

d. The Convert Text to Table dialog opens.

e. In the AutoFit behavior section, select AutoFit to contents.

f. In the Separate text at section, click Tabs if it is not already selected.

g. Click OK.

5. Add a formula to the table.

a. Place the insertion point in the third column of the fourth row.

b. If necessary, click the Table Tools Layout tab.

c. In the Data group, click the Formula button.

d. In the Formula box, type: =SUM(ABOVE)*.90.

e. Click OK.

f. You should see $128.25 as the amount.

6. Adjust the margins in the table.

a. On the Table Tools Layout tab, in the Alignment group, click the Cell Margins button.

b. In the Default cell margin section, click the Top up arrow three times so the box reads 0.03". Click the Bottom up arrow three times so the box reads 0.03".

c. Click OK.

7. Color an image.

a. Select the GreenScapes logo at the top of the page.

b. Click the Picture Tools Format tab.

c. In the Adjust group, click the Color button.

d. Select Green, Accent color 1 Dark. It is the second option in the second row of the Recolor section of the gallery.

8. Adjust the brightness and contrast of an image.

a. Select the picture of the walkway next to the signature.

b. On the Picture Tools Format tab, in the Adjust group, click the Corrections button.

c. Select the Brightness: +20% Contrast: -20% option. It is the fourth option in the second row under Brightness/Contrast.

9. Reset an image.

a. Select the green garden picture to the right of the walkway picture.

b. On the Picture Tools Format tab, in the Adjust group, click the Reset Picture button.

10. Align images.

a. Click the picture of the walkway to select it. Press and hold the Shift key and click the picture of the garden picture on the right.

b. Click the Picture Tools Format tab.

c. In the Arrange group, click the Align button.

d. Verify Align Selected Objects is selected and click the Align Bottom option.

11. Format a shape.

a. Select the rounded rectangle at the bottom of the page.

b. On the Drawing Tools Format tab, in the Shape Styles group, expand the Shape Styles gallery and select the Colored Outline - Dark Green, Accent 2 (it is the third option in the gallery).

c. In the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Outline button and select Dark Green, Accent 2, Darker 25%. It is the sixth option in the second to last row under Theme Colors.

d. In the Shape Styles group, click the Shape Outline button again. Point to Weight and select 4 ½ pt.

12. Add text to a shape.

a. With the rounded rectangle still selected, type: Call us for a free estimate!

b. Press Enter and type: (702)555-1045

c. Click outside the shape to deselect it.

13. Compress the pictures in the document.

a. Select the picture of the walkway.

b. On the Picture Tools Format tab, in the Adjust group, click the Compress Pictures button.

c. In the Compress Pictures dialog, click the Apply only to this picture check box (if necessary) to remove the checkmark.

d. Use the default resolution and click OK.

14. Save and close the document.

15. Upload and save your project file.

16. Submit project for grading.
