IBM SPSS v27 Installation and Registration (Mac)

The following set of instructions will walk you through installing IBM SPSS on your

computer.

SPSS version 27 is compatible on the following Mac Operating Systems:

• OS Catalina 10.15 (see release notes for important tips)

• OS Mojave 10.14

• OS High Sierra 10.13

• OS Sierra 10.12

We suggest that you first obtain the SPSS license code before you begin

downloading SPSS.

Students may obtain the SPSS license code from this link:

Faculty may obtain the SPSS license code from this link:

Simply copy and paste the code into a Word document so that you have it available

when prompted to enter it at the end of the installation sequence. You can always enter

the code later; however, having it on hand to enter during the installation is much easier.

UA.pkg/SS_CLIENT_27.0_MAC_OS_MULTILINGUA.pkg This installation requires at

least 1GB of free space on your computer. Because of the large size of the installation

file, it is recommended that you are on a DSL or better internet connection. Even with a

strong internet connection, the installation may still take up to 30 minutes or longer.

While the tool is installing, you may continue to work within other applications on your

computer.

Note: Java Runtime Environment must be installed on your computer in order for SPSS

to run. If you experience any issues with SPSS or if you are prompted, you may install

Java SE Runtime Environment 7u45 from the Oracle website.

When prompted, download the file on your computer. (Note: Depending on your browser, this screen may look a little different.) This step may take up to about 20 minutes if you are on a 128 Kbps internet connection. Once the file has been saved, run the file.

The install wizard will appear. Click Continue to review the License Agreement.

Review the License Agreement, then click Continue.

Click Agree to continue with the software installation.

Select the destination on your computer where you wish to save the file. Then click Continue. The default install location will automatically be chosen. You can change this in the next step.

If you wish to change the installation location, click the Change Install Location button and browse to your desired location. Then click on Install to begin installation. The install may take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer.

Once the install has completed, click Close and navigate to the License Authorization Wizard. Note: The License Authorization Wizard should have automatically launched when the installation completed.

When you locate the License Authorization Wizard, click on the Next button.

When prompted, for the license type, select Authorized user license and click Next.

Faculty may obtain the SPSS

license code from this link:

Copy that code and paste it into the Enter Code field. Then click the Add button to add your license to the product. Finally, click Next to continue. This code will only license the software until September 30. At that time, you will need to access the page referenced above to receive an updated license code. If your code is authorized, you will receive a notice indicating that your authorization was successful. Click on the Next button to continue.

You should then receive confirmation that your copy of SPSS has been licensed. Click the Finish to complete the setup.

SPSS will then be ready for use.
