Disseminating Findings

Disseminating Findings Program Transcript

FEMALE SPEAKER: Evidence based practice relies on nurse researchers to disseminated the findings of their studies and projects throughout the health care field.

In this video, Dr. Kristen Mauk explains the importance of disseminating research findings, along with possible avenues and opportunities for doing this.

KRISTEN MAUK: As nurses and just responsible citizens, I think we have a responsibility then to share our knowledge. And we've heard that since basic nursing programs, that you need to communicate what you find.

And certainly, if you've found something that was highly significant that can improve patient care in other settings, just think of all the research you use from other people to look at your own project. Now people can use what you've found in their own settings.

And some of the ways that we do that are through poster presentations, through presentations, like a paper presentation, speaking, presenting to the organization where you did it your project, so that they see what the findings are.

And they are much more likely to invest in another project or to fund you or to use your data and keep using whatever change you introduced if they feel like you came back and shared your results with them.

So you cannot leave off that piece of disseminating your results. It's very important. Get your information out there, because you put a lot of work to get to the point where you are, and you need to share that with other people.
