The Effect of Strategic Change Management in Organizations

Bromiley, Philip, et al. "Enterprise risk management: Review, critique, and research directions." Long range planning 48.4 (2015): 265-276.

According to the article, regulators, executives, rating agencies, academic organizations have established a new approach to the management of risks. This approach is used as a way of minimizing effect of change management in an organization. According to the author, there should be proper and effective approaches when managing risks. The concept of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) dominates the article. The concept of ERM suggests the integrated management of all the risks organizations face require alignment of risk management with the use of corporate governance and effective strategies. However, the research on ERM and its application is still in its “infancy” with most of the studies focusing on accounting and financial application of ERM. Therefore, this aspect may have limited authors to pass on their information in an effective way. Importantly, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) will be essential for my future WA 4 since it will offer an opportunity for me to conduct new research in the management academic works.

Helfat, Constance E., and Jeffrey A. Martin. "Dynamic managerial capabilities: Review and assessment of managerial impact on strategic change." Journal of Management 41.5 (2015): 1281-1312.

The article suggests that dynamic capabilities of the management has developed and revolutionized over the past ten years. Therefore, these capabilities have developed such that reviewing and synthesizing of relevant and applicable literature can transform the scholarly work forward and in a great way. The authors succeed in addressing the impacts the management has on the strategic changes by elaborating the capabilities that managers use to create, extend, and modify their operation means and in order to make a living as well. Information contained in this article will be very beneficial in my future WA 4. Therefore, I believe that this knowledge will help me to understand and explain the relationship that exists between the quality of managerial decisions, strategic changes, and the overall performance in an organization or firm. Theoretical constructs and their relationships are also clarified in the article. Their relationships and their impact on the managerial abilities are also evaluated by the authors.

Hornstein, Henry A. "The integration of project management and organizational change management is now a necessity." International Journal of Project Management 33.2 (2015): 291-298.

The author suggests that project management processes and training of new project leaders and managers should consider the impact of organizational change. Therefore, Henry goes ahead to explain that processes of project management including training of new project managers have either positive or negative impacts on organizational performance. For this reason, he states that such processes and pieces of trainings should be checked regularly and regulated for they can have devastating effects on performance of both the management and junior staff. The author succeeds in giving out his information by reviewing supportive literature. Hence, the literature in the article emphasizes project managers should understand and become conversant with the organization change management (OCM). Such information and knowledge will be useful in my future WA4 in understanding that performances and changes in the management operations can have both positive and negative impacts on the performance of an organization.

Romanenko, Alena. Cultural Diversity Management in Organizations: The Role of Psychological Variables in Diversity Initiatives. Diplomica Verlag, 2012. 165.193.

The article analyzes the various diversities that exist in organizations and various workplaces. These diversity ranges from ethnicity to cultural differences. The article pin points on the importance of having to evaluate the various level of needs in an organization because they affect overall strategic management and how different tasks are executed. According to the authors, changes that take place in the demographic structures of the modern labor force and techniques of increasing globalized businesses are resulting into a state of many questions. Therefore, stakeholders and business persons are left with various questions of how cultural diversity will be dealt with at the management levels. The author succeeds in passing the information by affirming that cultural diversity management in any organization or company is centered toward the status quo of the theoretical and empirical research within the demesne of different diversities dealt emphasized by the management. The information contained in this article help me to understand better the interaction that exists between the management and presence of diversity in an organization.

This article introduces a new explanation regarding one of the most pronounced phenomena in the American business sector in the recent years. The authors analyses the dramatic increase in attribution of importance of CEOs and other top executives. According to the article, the American CEOs and top executives became more significant and valued because of the impact they had on the overall organization. These people played crucial roles like organizing human resource as well as managing other resources that resulted to the attainment of the overall organizational success. This article will benefit my future WA 4 in the sense that I will be to understand and appreciate the crucial roles that the CEOs and top leaders play in the management and running of the organizations. The article has been written in a clear and informed way. Besides, the authors have succeeded to pass their message by analyzing the substantial role of leaders drawn from about 18,000 firms. They explain that the performances of these firms relied on the presence or working and dedicated CEOs and top executives.
