The conference selected for this assignment is RSA Conference 2022, initiated by the RSA Security LLC, doing business as RSA is an American network and computer security company focusing on encryption standards. The company was founded in 1982 and founded by Ronald Rivest. The company offers digital risk management and cybersecurity solutions. Dell Technologies acquired the RSA LLC in 2015, and currently, Dell Technologies sold RSA Conference LLC to Symphony Technology Group (STG) for $2.1billion (Finsmes, 2020). The company serves customers across the world. RSA focuses on helping the most security-sensitive organizations through advanced solutions and cybersecurity arrangements. The company operates a wide range of industries, including energy, healthcare, financial and government. These organizations are becoming security-sensitive, and RSA assists them with solid security infrastructure to protect information and data (RSA, n.d.).

Description of Conference

RSA conference is a series of global and annual events for the cybersecurity community. RSA conference hosts security industry coverages and holds discussions on current and future security concerns, allowing experts to present unbiased ideas and content that helps companies and individuals to strengthen their security setups and cybersecurity postures to avoid complications. Every year, the RSA conference brings experts in the cybersecurity industry together to help them stand against cybersecurity threats worldwide. RSA conference is a global marketplace for hands-on educational opportunities and advanced technologies that enable industry professionals to discover secure infrastructures for their organizations. The conference engages influential, thought-provoking and enterprising thinkers to exchange their ideas on cybersecurity concerns of organizations (Dunton, 2021).

The RSA conference 2022 was held on June 6 to 9, 2022. A broad list of topics was presented at this conference, and the theme of all topics was cybersecurity. Some topics address how organizations can protect their data and private information from external threats. Some topics covered include cryptography, cloud security and cloud solutions, hackers & threats, the human element, machine learning & artificial intelligence, innovation & startup, risk management and governance, and securing everything. The conference theme covers all concerns about cybersecurity by discussing human, organizational and legal factors that can contribute to creating a secure infrastructure (RSA Conference, 2022). From the list of topics covered in the conference, the three that interest me most are; cryptography, hackers & threats and security strategy and architecture. These three topics cover a lot about current organizational concerns about cyber-security.

All the topics covered at the RSA conference revolve around one theme that is cybersecurity. The three most important themes that I have selected from the given topics are cryptography, hackers & threats and the security strategy and architecture. I believe these three are most relevant to my field. Some of the conference topics cover future concerns about cybersecurity. Still, these topics that I've selected address the current needs and concerns of organizations. Cryptography is a growing concern of organizations as it is centralized in the business industry. Thus, the information presented in this paper was relevant to the field. Hackers and threats are other important topics that are always relevant to the IT field and concerns of those organizations integrating innovation and advancement.

Along with advancements and innovations, hackers also pose threats in the industry. Thus, having information about it is important to deal with these threats. Security strategy & architecture is another important topic in dealing with security threats. This topic is relevant because we also deal with security strategies and architecture solutions to solve security issues.

Personal Applications

Topics covered in the conference show the scope of information technology today and in future. It helps to understand that there are possible threats along with the benefits associated with information technology. It is the responsibility of organizations to stay ready for those threats that can disturb the integrity of business organizations. From this exercise, I've learned that in my field, along with numerous opportunities, I would have to deal with challenges to succeed. But one thing is obvious: the scope of the field is wider. From the topics covered in the conference, we can determine the scope of IT professionals and opportunities in the professional field. Information from this exercise helps me to understand which subfield will be beneficial; thus, my job search will be in that specific field. For example, cryptography is the future; thus, learning from this field directs my focus toward cryptography, and I'll pursue a career in this area. The analysis of the conference theme motivates me to gain knowledge about all the topics covered in the conference to be able to address security issues in my organization.
