The major responsibilities of human resources management (HRM) are attracting, developing, and maintaining a quality workforce. Research an organization, with which you are familiar, that is in need of a change and present how you will manage the change process by incorporating the three essential duties of HRM.

Choose one subsystem to change and write a 1,250-1,500 word paper addressing the following questions that pertain to the major human resource management responsibilities and to change management. Strengthen your recommendations by showing how your proposed changes are working in another similar organization that is successful.

Address following in your paper:

1. Provide an overview of the organization you have chosen including three subsystems of the organization, three stakeholders of the organization, and the reason for selecting this organization.

2. What one major organizational subsystem needs to be changed in the organization? Justify your choice. How does it compare to a similar successful organization?

3. How will the subsystem change affect the two other subsystems within the organization that you have identified and how will you realign the total system?

4. Identify and explain how you would ensure that the proposed change will satisfy any three stakeholders of the organization?

5. How should the organization attract, develop, and maintain the workforce required to bring about your proposed change?

· Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about attracting a quality workforce to support the change in Questions 2 and 3 above: human resource planning, recruitment, or selection.

· Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about developing a quality workforce to support the change in Questions 2 and 3 above: (and this must tie in to 4a too): employee orientation, training and development, or performance appraisal.

· Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about maintaining a quality workforce to support the change in Questions 2 and 3 above (and must relate to 4a and 4b): career development, work-life balance, compensation and benefits, employee retention and turnover, or labor-management relations.

Integrate a faith-based or worldview-based component in the paper and make a clear connection on how it informs the groups' management practices. (NOTE: Individuals all have a worldview, and that worldview influences their decisions, values, and perceptions. It also affects how they manage people or think they should be managed. For this assignment, this requirement relates to the worldview of the presenters.

Include at least four academic references to support your position. One of them should directly relate to the company discussed in your paper and another to the organization to which you are comparing it.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Your introduction should be typed here. It should be at least four sentences and include a thesis statement. Please note that you should follow all APA writing rules within your essay. This means avoid first and second person, do not use contractions, and use citations throughout your paper! And remember – this is NOT an opinion paper. Do not write “I think” or “I believe”. Prove your points with research (the text counts as one of your sources, the lecture notes count as another). Please see the rubric in the assignment dropbox. If you want to earn an A, make sure you meet all of the requirements listed.

Organization and Major Subsystem in Need of Change

Provide information on the organization you have picked and include three subsystems (information on subsystems is in the DQ 1 thread as well as your textbooks), three stakeholders, and why you have chosen this organization. Define and cite subsystems and stakeholders. Cite your academic research.

Subsystem in Need of Change

What subsystem out of the three you picked needs to be changed? Why? What specifically needs to be changed and why? Justify your choice and compare it to another successful organization. This section must include academic research to support your claims, meaning cited content.

Impact of the Proposed Change

Describe in detail how the proposed change to the major subsystem would subsequently create positive changes to two other subsystems within your organization. Make a presentation of how these changes would realign the organization for the better. Make sure you conduct research to support your assertions and cite throughout.

Satisfying the stakeholders

How will the proposed change satisfy stakeholders in the organization? Think about defining stakeholders and use a resource to make your claim. Why would it satisfy the stakeholders? You can be creative here, but back up your main ideas with resources.

Attracting a quality workforce

Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about attracting a quality workforce to support the change: human resource planning, recruitment, or selection. Use resources – define your main ideas.

Developing a quality workforce

Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about developing a quality workforce to support the change: employee orientation, training and development, or performance appraisal.

Maintaining a quality workforce

Choose at least one of the following in your discussion about maintaining a quality workforce to support the change: career development, work-life balance, compensation and benefits, employee retention and turnover, or labor-management relations.

Worldview

This section asks you to think about how a worldview influences management decisions. I am not asking you to guess about the worldview of your organization, you should think about your own point of view here. This is also the section that I would recommend connecting other aspects of the course. Think about how management’s worldview would influence communication, politics, planning, leadership or any aspects of organizational behavior.

You need to include a conclusion here. It should not introduce any new information; it should simply be a wrap up of your paper. See below for how to format references. You must have four academic references to meet the expectations (more to exceed them). One can be your text, but the others must be a library source or other academic sources. I am looking for you to pull past course concepts into this paper. This is a Benchmark assignment, so it is important to include leadership theories and management principles from the past 8 weeks. If you follow this template and the rubric, you will do very well on your paper!
