W 7 (Dis 1 - Response NCR)

I got an opportunity to work with both male and female supervisors at the beginning of my carrier. Below are my views and experiences about the same.

Working with female supervisors we have both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages: 

Female supervisors mostly have more knowledge in their domain. They learn the things very fast. Females as a group learn faster than males (University of Georgia). In the meetings also the female supervisors listen carefully and patiently to every employee opinion. Female supervisors mostly spend their work hours in the office only. So, they are reachable whenever the issue occurs in the project or anything needed. They will keep a keen interest in each one work and asks whether they need any help in their works. It is suggested that one of the reasons why women learn better than men is that their relatively docile nature lets them attentively listen without attempting to dominate or prematurely participate in the conversation (Hammer, 2013). Female supervisors are more understanding than male supervisors. They connect emotionally with her team. Women may be more comfortable dealing with other women. (Crowe). Disadvantages: 

For women, as it is a little bit tough to grow in their organizations, they don’t want to see the growth of their team members. They always want to push them down. Women supervisors they get more frustrated even for the small things went wrong. They don’t give more freedom to their team members in their work. They always are bossy towards her team members.

 Working with Male supervisors we have both advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages: 

Female supervisors are harder more on their female team workers mostly and sometimes even with a male. But with male supervisors it's not the same thing, they will be easy with all his team workers. Male supervisors are flexible in their work. They will give the task to finish it. But, they will not after the team. They give their team workers their own space. Male supervisors will help their team workers to improve their skills and growth in the carrier. Male supervisors create a friendly atmosphere in the workplace.

Disadvantages: 

For male supervisors, it will be little tough to understand the female problems. They will not connect with their team emotionally. Sometimes there is a chance of saying harsh words in front of the other team workers if anything wrong happens. They will not listen patiently.

Conclusion:  So, both male and female supervisors have pros and cons. So, it will be better for the team, if those gender bias qualities are put aside and better to cultivate standard supervisory qualities which can be considered from a male and a female supervisor.
