The ability for an organization to be secure is the foundation for an organization to ensure safety of their data and client data.  It is very challenging time due to the amount of ways that data is transmitted in this day and age.  It is only going to be more challenging in the future.  

 

A few of the ways to verify that data is securely transmitted are Confidentiality, Authentication, Non-repudiation, and Integrity control.  Confidentiality means that the message is only readable by the intended recipient. Authentication is the process of identifying an individual by user name and password.  Non-repudiation ensures that the person cannot deny their signature.  Integrity control or data integrity is the completeness, accuracy, and that the data is consistent (Whitman & Mattord, 2018).

 

Two main techniques to achieve confidentiality are Cryptography and Steganography.  Cryptography is a scientific method of secretly writing information.  There are two main component s of Crytography and they are encryption and decryption.  There are also two types of Cryptography algorithims and they are public key and symmetric key.  Steganography hides the secret information inside another file to throw off the intruder of what the message is.  This is typically an image, audio, video, or text file (Babita & Kaur, 2017).

 

Typically the largest threat in an organization’s network is the mobile devices that are used by its employees.  Because these devices can be lost or stolen, or have poor security protocols on them this only increases the risks involved.
