Feedback: Partially developed six (6) relevant learning outcomes for the course.

Each one of your outcomes needs to start with an action word and they all needs to be re-written. See my illustration below. Also remember that Learning outcomes are detailed description of what a student must be able to do to reach a goal under specific conditions that have been established. Below I copied and paste an example from one of my management courses. I want you to write each one of your outcomes to be written in bullet type style format. Example: 1. Describe the primary functions of management (planning, organizing, leading, controlling) and the associated skills, tools, and theoretical approaches that can be used to accomplish these functions. 2. Explain the principal theories and the various approaches to management that have evolved over time and their application to current management situations. 3. Analyze the importance of ethical behavior to and organizational culture and the new ethical dilemmas created by globalization.

Feedback: Does not meet the required number of references; some or all references poor quality choices.

Only two provided

Feedback: 5-6 errors present

Next time be sure that you follow my instruction and do not add stuff that we didn't ask for. In a major evaluation, you only provide the response to what you were asked to do and nothing more and nothing less.

The proposed course for development is Basics of Environmental Science

Basically, this course aims at highlighting students on environmental issues and basics of ensuring a safe environment. This course is going to take students through three weeks with each of the weeks coming with specific subtopics.

Week 1

Basics of environment and nature

In the first week of the course, the students are going to be taught about the basics of environment and nature. This includes procreation, and survival of species. Besides that, students are going to learn about effects of change in climate on the environment. Students are also going to learn about the effects of human activities on climate.

Week 2

Study of the habitat

At the week 2 of the course, students are going to learn the relationship between living organisms and their immediate environment. Besides that, the students are going to learn about the effects of the alteration of the climate on the habitat. Students are going to learn about the effects of change in habitat on survival of species.

Week 3

Environmental conservation efforts.

At the week three of the course students are going to learn about efforts that the government has taken in a bid to conserve the environment. This includes the statutes, regulations, regulatory authorities and institutions and frameworks aimed at environmental conservation. Besides that, students are also going to learn about the need to conserve the environment. This week shall also highlight the students on how they might personally contribute to creating a sustainable planet.

Discussion of the course

Environmental science is a basic course that is aimed at equipping students with the necessary knowledge and expertise and experience on sustainability of the environment. This is by teaching them about basics of environment and nature, organisms and their adaptation to the environment. This course is also going to enable the students learn about the habitat and how they might personally contribute to environmental conservation efforts.

Learning outcomes of the course

· Understand the relationship between living organisms and their environment

· Understand the effects of human activities on the environment

· Understand how individual efforts to conservation of the environment

The course learning outcomes above are typically what the course aims at ensuring that students learn about the natural environment and how individuals can contribute to the health of the planet in its entirety. This would enable the students to understand how the environment works and its basics.

Target learners

Even though this is not one of the primary units for the students learning other courses, it offers them the basics of the environment and how they might contribute to its conservation efforts in a nutshell (Pritchard, 2013). Typically, this course is meant for jut any student out there that needs to learn about the environment without having to dig deep into tedious research.

Three unique needs of online learners

Full range support services: students that learn online need support unique to their needs while still ensuring that they receive the same support as those learning traditionally.

Accessibility of the online learning plus other resources such as financial and library. These needs allow the students to access materials to further their learning.

Networking opportunities which allow them not only to get to know their area of specialty but also the perception of their peers and other students on the courses they are being taught.

Six learning outcomes of the course

Learning outcomes are the skills that students are expected to gain at the end of the course. Learning outcomes are typically the specific objectives of the course regarding the knowledge that the course targets to impart the students with (Pritchard, 2013).

· Be able to apply knowledge on environment to solving real life environmental problem

· To foster the ability to understand the relationship between the environment and survival of species both plants and animals.

· Understand the effects of change in habitat on survival and procreation of organisms and species.

· Understand the effects of human activities on the health of the environment, species and all the other living organisms.

· Understand the effects of human activities on global warming and alteration of the climate on survival of the organisms

· Know the effects of the choice of lifestyle and individual activities on the environment and survival of species.

Proposed Learning Theory to Be Applied in the Course

The learning theory that would be applied in the teaching the students is the constructivism theory.

Constructivism theory

This theory was put forward by Jean Piaget, advocating for the need to involve students in active learning by allowing them to construct the knowledge themselves. This theory posit that students learn by relating new things that are being taught to them to what they already know (Pritchard, 2013). Cognitive schema is the part of human cognitive structure coming from learning about different aspects. This means that what students learn forms part and parcel of their views on the subject. In order to ensure that they are learning actively and internalizing what has been taught to them, it is important to ensure that they are able to apply what they have learnt in their real-life situation (Pritchard, 2013).

3 Ways to Motivate Students in an Online Learning Environment

Motivating students to learn is important in ensuring that students get to learn what is being taught to them.

· The first strategy is introducing discussion and discussion boards. This strategy is aimed at keeping the students engaged with the course by allowing them to respond to a given topic and discussion and also respond to their classmate’s discussions (Siemens, 2014). Interesting topics will help students understand what is being taught to them.

· Assignments: this is one of the major ways through which an instructor can keep the students learning. Typically, assignments which are rated makes the students do research and then present them to the instructor. While it is important to stick to facts, it is also critical to evaluate critical thinking skills.

· Personal projects which is in line with the course: these are independent projects which students come up with and then present to the instructor. Such projects will keep the students keen throughout the learning periods.

Conclusion

While it is important to let the learners know the outcomes of the course at the beginning of learning, it is important to stick to the unique needs of each and every student in order to ensure that they get the most out of the course they are learning. In order to ensure that the learning is effective, it is critical to come up with learning theories that would be critical in passing the required information to the student. It would also be important to come up with specific ways to motivate the students and keep them active throughout the course (Siemens, 2014). Active learning enables the students to internalize all that is expected of them during and after the course.
