Criminal Justice
The paper will basically review the screening polices and use of substance by those who enjoy the nutrition assistance in the US. Testing among the welfare beneficiaries has become common in most states since it is very expensive for most needy families to pay for themselves. This has become mandatory in most states in order to reduce substance abuse. If tested positive more than twice one is likely to be suspended from enjoying the federal benefits as well as being jailed for three years or more. This kind of criminal justices falls under drugs and crime. The Civil courts deals with such cases where corrections are probation and conditional release (Neubauer, & Fradella, 2018). It is by this process where the federal government can get the data of those abusing substances and be able to make necessary changes. Those caught on drug abuse will be subject to law enforcement as per the Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR) program.
The federal “war on drugs” has been so intensive that it has cost the government a good amount of money since a drug test for an individual is about $75-$200 (Carpenter, 2015). Most people test positive and for this reasons the bill should be reviewed and changes made to make sure all US residents undergo a drug test. This will help reduce drug use by a big percentage. Currently the bill is restricted to the federal beneficiaries.
