In Module 01 Written Assignment - Reflection you were asked to give yourself a rating from 1 to 5, with five (5) representing the healthiest eater. What number would you give yourself now?

I would give myself a four (4). I try to eat healthy most of the time, but I do indulge in low quality foods from time to time thus a rating stated.

Did your rating change? If so, in what direction and in what way? What adjustments to your diet, if any, did you make?

Yes, my rating changed. It improved from ‘poor’ to ‘good.’ I made some adjustments to my diet, such as reducing my intake of processed and sugary foods, increasing my intake of fruits and vegetables, and increasing my physical activity levels. I also began exercising regularly, which helped me to improve my overall health. I started by doing simple activities such as walking or jogging, and gradually increased the intensity of my workouts. This helped me to burn more calories and build more muscle. Overall, these changes have helped me to improve my rating and overall health. I feel better and have more energy as a result. My diet is now balanced, and I am more conscious of what I am eating. I also made sure to get enough fiber, protein, and healthy fats in my diet. I also started cooking more meals at home, as this allowed me to better control what I was eating. I am also more active, which has improved my overall fitness. I also tried to limit my alcoholic drinks consumption and switch to healthier snack options that are having direct health impact thus improving overall health (Piper, 2019).

Are your eating patterns based on family traditions or cultural or religious reasons? If so, does this support or promote healthy eating?

Yes, my eating patterns are based on family traditions and cultural/religious reasons. These traditions and cultural/religious reasons support and promote healthy eating. For example, my family has a tradition of eating a vegetarian meal every Friday night. This tradition has been passed down through generations, and it encourages us to eat more fruits and vegetables, which are essential components of a healthy diet. Additionally, my religious beliefs provide guidelines for what foods I should or should not eat. These guidelines promote healthy eating habits, such as limiting processed and sugary foods and emphasizing fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins (Murphy, 2017).

What two important nutritional principles or concepts have you learned and will always remember? What is their impact on your delivery of quality safe nursing care?

The two important principles include having a balanced diet intake that includes having the intake of all the types of foods such as grains, proteins, vegetables and many more. It is important to ensure that meals are well balanced and provide a variety of nutrients. This impacts my delivery of quality safe nursing care by helping me to ensure that my patients are receiving the nutrients they need to stay healthy and strong. The second principle is the intake of foods rich in nutrients as this will provide the body with essential vitamins important for growth and limiting disease related to nutrients attack. Eating nutrient-dense foods can help improve overall health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. This impacts my delivery of quality safe nursing care by allowing me to make informed decisions about patient nutrition, which can have a direct impact on their health outcomes (Faeh, 2021).
