Visualisation Critique

Overview:

Being able to critically assess a data visualisation is a necessary skill as in our increasingly data drenched world we are increasingly depending on them to help us find meaning. In addition,  Warren Buffet   has famously claimed that if a Business student learns how to communicate effectively then that student will increase their value by 50%.  In this assignment you will work on these two skills.

Required:

Each week a number of students are required to:

1. Find a data visualisation;

2. Review it (note that a review should utilise the frameworks and principles covered in the course);

Student visualisation critique slots will be spread randomly across the quarter and will be assigned by the lecturer.

Each student will receive 5 minutes to present their video critique and will need to respond to questions from the audience.

· Evaluate, critique, and suggest improvements to, visual representations of data.

· Identify, and suggest improvements to, unethical uses of data visualisations in business settings.
