Proper way to wash your hands The CDC recommends following these steps

• Wet your hands with clean running water either hot or cold, turn off water and apply soap (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022) .

• Lather your hands by scrubbing them together with the soap, be sure to get behind the hands, under the nails, and between your fingers (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022).

• Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022). Failure to do so might result in pathogens staying on the hands and increasing chances to

transmit these pathogens to patients which could lead to infection.

• Rinse your hands well with clean running water (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022).

• Dry your hands completely using either paper towels or a hand air dryer (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022).

If washing your hands is not available, then alcohol-based sanitizers are another good choice to use when practicing

hand hygiene, just follow these easy steps.

• Apply the product on the palm of one hand. Be sure to read the products label for the correct amount of the solution to use (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022).

• Cover all surfaces of your hands (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2022).

• Rub the solution throughout your hands, in between your fingers and under your nails as best as possible, the process should take at least 20 seconds (Centers for Disease Control and

Prevention, 2022)
