Make a Virtual Visit to a US National Park!

1) Select a US National Park you would like to visit

2) Visit www.nps.gov to learn about the Park

3) Plan a trip to visit that Park Do NOT actually visit the Park, but plan as if you might someday make the trip!

Your completed assignment must include the following:

a) Your destination.

b) The theoretical dates of your trip.

c) How you will travel to & from your destination.

· If you’re driving: What vehicle you’ll take, and projected fuel costs,

· If you’re flying: Find and give details on a real flight, including fares, and details & costs of on-ground transportation,

d) Where you will stay (campground, motel, friends’ home, etc.) and any costs incurred. Include the name of the campground or motel or a general description of the location of your friends’ home.

e) The anticipated weather (temperature, any precipitation, etc.) during your visit.

f) Information on the Park, including:

· Location

· Size

· General description of the physical environment

· Any alerts in effect (they may be recurring problems!)

· The brochure map of the Park

g) An explanation of why it is a NP; why it is a significant location (physical features, cultural history, etc.).

h) Brief summaries (> 5 sentences each) of at least eight (8) features of the Park you would explore and/or activities in which you would participate.

i) At least one paragraph (> 5 sentences) on what you thought of your “trip”.

· Cite at least three (3) sources
