Before starting please note that it is important that the students be visible in their video presentation and the video should not be longer than 10 mins in duration.

Although you will not be assessed on your video-making abilities, the following tips have been provided to help you make a video with professional quality, with low technical requirements, such as a laptop camera or smartphone.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING A YOUTUBE VIDEO

How to record a video

Use a phone/tablet/laptop/computer/camera. Have a plan and script ready. Before recording consider:

·        Lighting – the person or item in focus should face the light.

·        Stabiliser – use a tripod or sit the camera on a steady shelf.

·        Vary shots – close up, medium, centred or off centred.

·        Audio – Record in a quiet place with no background noise. Speak clearly; a microphone is not always needed.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING A KALTURA CAPTURE VIDEO

If students require to present themselves ( webcam/speech ) while also displaying their slides within the video, I would advise them to use a screen recording program.
