Video Comparative Analysis: Utilizing the Five Paragraph Essay Format:

You will need to read the three chapters we are covering to complete the VCA. After watching the video(and taking notes as to the content of the video) students are required to compare the content of the video to the material in the chapter.

Students will offer a minimum of three comparisons to include page numbers and topics.

Utilizing the Five paragraph Essay Format the following example is offered:

The TOPIC for this example is Geographical Profiling

Example: The primary theme of the video “The Salem Witch Trials” and reading the material in chapter one, three comparisons can be made.

Paragraph 1: Introduction: List all three comparisons to be discussed.

Paragraph 2: First Comparison:

Turvey (2012) discusses the fact that the Salem Witch Trials involved religious reformers known as Puritans (p. 14). The Puritans believed in practicing religious exorcisms as was portrayed in the video with the burning of Madam XYZ as a means of riding her of demons.

Paragraph 3: Second Comparison

Next, the video discussed Ann Glover and her influence on the children of John Goodwin. The text goes into detail on page 14 describing…… (and so on) Paragraph 4:

After offering the three comparisons summarize the essay in the last paragraph
