Viana’s Humanitarian Project

Introduction:

As a retired New York City Parks and Recreation Field Trainer and Pool Supervisor, the need for a children’s sports center in the Newark, New Jersey area is crucial. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and a master’s degree in Marketing. I want to combine my children’s sport’s center with a healing center. My goal is revitalizing this community and other poverty-stricken communities within the United States and globally with special programs for children, special needs, and adults.

Objectives and Strategy

· We will build a children’s sport center and healing center

· The Sports Center will provide programs for their children to enjoy, learn, and socialize with their peers.

· The sports center will provide free ice hockey and ice-skating lessons, dancing, exercise, karate, boxing, swimming, computer coding lessons, music lessons, basketball, and tennis

· Adults will be able to utilize a state-of-the-art gym.

· Programs will also be included for special needs children.

· Healthy Snacks and other nutrition will be offered.

Parking lot will be available. Food court will be available.

Special programs will be implemented such as Toys for Tots during the Christmas holidays, Coat drives during the winter months, uniform vouchers starting July and August.

A special program voucher will be established for single working parents that cannot afford to pay their rent, childcare, utilities, and food. The program voucher will pay the parent’s rent for six months, childcare, utilities, and food vouchers will be provided. This will help parents get back on their feet. If the parent needs additional help, accommodations will be provided based on their financial needs. The decision on the initial acceptance of the application must go through a thorough investigation. A special course will be created in the sports center to teach adults how to budget their finances. Upon completion of the classes, a certificate of completion will be awarded.

The healing center will be adjacent to the sports center. This healing center will include med bedrooms, patient and recovery rooms, staff lounge and locker rooms, laundry rooms, doctor offices, triage rooms, waiting rooms, patient locker rooms, massage and therapy, cafeteria, and physical therapy room. Physical therapy will be located inside the sports center. The patient will be able to use a gym and the pool for rehabilitation. A separate parking lot will be available in front of the building.

Future Growth: Year 2 – (ending year)

Year 2: we will ……………………

Year 3: we willll…………….

Do this until you have had enough years to build out your program.

Years 4- finish year: We will maintain project…. By……………..doing this ………………every year.

Special Considerations:

Having 15 years of experience with NYC Parks and Recreation, I have the skill set for this project. I also have hospital experience and 25 years in the music industry that will help me combine both projects. A non-profit organization Hockey for New Jersey will be running their children’s hockey program at the sports center, and they will oversee the ice-skating rink.

Melissa Loughran, RN, Director of the Burn Unit for Temple University Hospital in PA, will oversee the healing center. She will hire the medical staff needed and will possibly be the CEO for the healing center.

Brenda Santiago has 25+ years with the NYC Board of Education. She will be assisting with programs needed for the children.

Sandra Grammont has been a Filter Plant Operator for 10 years with NYC Parks and Recreation and will oversee the lifeguards and the pools.

Final Comment

This project is important to me because its giving back to the community especially to the children and the sick. I was able to experience my son’s pain of not being able to participate in his sports activities due to the lockdowns, and my mother’s pain of not being able to see a doctor. I made a vow to myself that the day I was ever blessed with money, I would create projects that will help people who are struggling, especially children.

I am extremely grateful to my Divine Creator for allowing me to purchase this currency and make this dream come true for all those who need help.
