Identify two things that surprised you about the results. Also identify one idea that you believed prior to conducting the Assessment that was confirmed. |
One thing that surprised me about the results was that civility centralizes genuine respect. Respect for each other in the workplace ensures equality and enables everyone to feel valued. Civility in the workplace is not a one-man thing. It requires the efforts of every member of the organization starting from the top management, the leaders and the employees. The combined efforts from all these groups promotes a civil environment as a way to ultimately enhance patient safety and care. The idea that civility in the workplace is not a simple matter but it needs to be worked on was confirmed by the assessment results. The DESC model clearly details how conversations regarding civility can be enforced in the workplace to inform employees on the basics of a civil workplace and effective ways of dealing with uncivil situations.

What do the results of the Assessment suggest about the health and civility of your workplace? |
The work environment assessment suggests that the health and civility of my workplace are moderate. There are some aspects of civility that are not fully applied in the workplace. My workplace is civil because communication from the top management to entire organizational levels is transparent and direct. Transparency increase workplace collaboration and creates a n environment of trust. The management also recognizes, acknowledges, and rewards the efforts of each member of the organization. Such acts motivates employees to become hardworking and increases retention of employees. There is a crucial consideration to time such as responding to emails on time, being punctual in arrivals to the workplace, and attending meetings (UT System Administration Office of Employee and Organizational Development, 2015)

Briefly describe the theory or concept presented in the article(s) you selected. Explain how the theory or concept presented in the article(s) relates to the results of your Work Environment Assessment. |
Article by Strategic Human Resource (2019), suggests that there are basic ways of establishing a civil workplace. It involves authentically respecting everyone in the workplace, creating and respecting the time of your coworkers, and creating a forum through which people make dialogues on matters regarding the health of the organization. Organizations are responsible for creating a workplace that is civil by establishing programs that provide training and support to create a respectful and healthy environment (Risesmart, 2019). Results of the work environment assessment are similar to the findings of the articles by Risesmart (2019) and Strategic Human Resource (2019). The basic way of practicing civility in the workplace is by respecting co-workers. Respect creates a sense of value and dignity. Respect seems to be at the core of a civil workplace. The articles detail the need for collaborative programs to help establish civility in the workplace. |

Explain how your organization could apply the theory highlighted in your selected article(s) to improve organizational health and/or create stronger work teams. Be specific and provide examples. |
The organization should conduct training on all employees regarding all forms of uncivil behaviors. In this way, all organization's members have a chance to understand their biases and different forms of uncivility in the workplace to enable them work towards eliminating them. The organization can establish a clear policy on uncivil behaviors. The organization should ensure that the policy is adhered to, it gives an opportunity to whoever who feels their needs are undermined to air complaints, and severe penalties are given to those who conduct themselves in manner that they are uncivilized (Risesmart, 2019). The organization should create a forum where all people are given a chance to speak on civility in the workplace. Such forums create strong and cohesive environments where each person is able to air out views regarding civility and uncivility and ways of handling cases using conflict resolution and other peace making measures.
