Tips for Writing a Précis While writing your précis:

• Summarize the key points; do not repeat a paraphrased version of the case.

• Use your own words. Include some quotes from the case as supporting evidence

for the main points.

• State only the facts—do not include your personal opinion or commentary.

• Convey information in a logical sequence; make clear connections and

transitions between all parts of your text.

• Avoid including any irrelevant details.

• Use active voice (refer to the Learning Resources for more information).

• Support your observations with evidence by citing at least two sources in your

précis.

• Please note that you should not include any recommendations in your précis.
