Usability Test Prompt Objectives Establish goals and methods for conducting usability testing, create documents needed for testing, craft an informative and persuasive report on usability testing that makes clear recommendations for revisions to assigned instructions

Prompt Before you complete your usability test, you will create a test plan. The plan will include:

• a script that the facilitator will use • a list of tasks you want participants to complete during the test • a description of how you will record the session or take notes so that

you know what worked and what didn’t after the test is over

You will submit your test plan to the Canvas assignment titled “Usability Test Plan” by 11:59 PM on Thursday, May 14.

Once you have gotten feedback from Dr. Strandjord on your test plan, you will revise your plan and conduct the usability test. After you have collected your data, you should think about the following questions:

• What strengths of the instructions did the testing reveal? What weaknesses?

• How might you revise your manual’s instructions to address the issues discovered through usability testing?

You will then write a one-page usability test report memo, which will include a summary of your methodology, results, and recommendations. You will submit your report to the Canvas assignment titled “Usability Test Report” by 11:59 PM on Sunday, May 24.

Both documents combined should total around 750 words.

Commenting Standards The usability test plan is worth 3 points and the test report is worth 7

points. As I comment, I will focus on the following:  Methodology explains the test goals, the knowledge your test

participant had before participating in the test, your methods of collecting and evaluating data from the test, and the time spent on the test.

 Results should present the findings of the usability test.  Recommendations should describe how the instructions should be

revised to be more effective and persuasive. Be specific in this section.
